Prolouge

Luz POV
We did it. Emperor Belos was finally defeated, and we were gathered at the portal to the human world, deciding what to do with it. Just then, Amity came up with the idea to send me back to the human realm so that I could be with my mother. "Ami, I'm not leaving you guys. You do realise that if I go, then I may not be able to come back?"
"Luz, please just go! I can't stand the idea of you not being able to see your mother for forever just because I was selfish! If you don't want to do it for yourself, at least do it for me, Luz." Amity pleaded. I took a deep breath, walked over to Amity, and kissed her straight on the lips before going through the portal to the human world.
Once I went through to the human world, I immediately ran towards my mother's house , jumping into her arms as soon as I saw her. "Mija! You're back?" "Yes mami" Upon confirmation that it was me, she hugged me back. We went back into the house, me describing my adventures to her.

It was late at night, and I was tossing and turning in bed. I had told my mom what had happened, and for some weird reason she believed me.
Just then, I heard a loud ruckus coming from the kitchen on the ground floor. I rushed down the stairs, only to see a yellow blur surrounding my mother, thus preventing me from getting to her. Just then, I was taken by the yellow blur to the street, before running back to the house. I quickly ran back to the house as fast as my little weak nerd legs could carry me, only to find my mothers dead body being carried out of the house in a white body bag.
"Mami! Sir! What happened to her?" I asked one of the police officers, wanting to know what happened to her. One of the officers, Joe West, who was dating her, immediately recognised me from the pictures of me my mom had showed him.
He brought me a blanket, before telling me that the police had received a call from the neighbours because of the weird noises coming from my house, only to find my mother dead with a knife in the stomach. After that, he referred me to social services, and he decided to adopt me, as Iris and I were friends back in elementary and middle school. From here on, it marked the start of a new life.
A/N sorry for the long chapter guys, I wanted to put the death scene in the prologue so that I can focus on the story in the next chapter
