This was the day.
The Perfect day.
Ezra was finally escaping the horrors of Knightly Kingston High School. He had been waiting four long years to finally leave and move on to a better chapter of life. It was a struggle to get through school, yet somehow, he managed to pass all my classes. He barely made the passing mark. Ezra was grateful to pass with a 2.0 GPA and no honors, if it meant leaving that horrible place. He'd been struggling with senioritis since his Spring semester of freshman year. Today, was going to be the BEST day ever! He thought.
The shining reflection of the beautiful sunrise outside his window as he slowly began to rise from sleep. Swiftly, he put on his thick square-like black glasses before creeping over to the tiny window next to his bedframe. The feeling of the soft breeze was enough for Ezra to forget all of his troubles and enjoy this beautiful moment. The morning air was warm yet not too hot, perfect weather for a young graduate.
This summer is going to be so fucking amazing!
Ezra turned to his closet to begin getting ready. As he was proceeded to lay out his clothes he had picked out earlier the night before, he stumbled upon an old image of his grandfather. Grandpa Joel. The pictured lay by an empty shoe box he had forgotten to get rid of. Ezra picked up the photo and sighed at the thought of his grandfather.
Grandpa Joel was special person in Ezra's life. Out of all relatives, Ezra confided in Grandpa Joel the most. He was special. Ezra had a unique bond with him. He felt he could tell Grandpa Joel anything without receiving any judgement or criticism. He'd simply listen and guide him through tough times. Yet, it broke Ezra that Grandpa Joel would not be able to attend his graduation.
Ezra didn't want to dive too deep into his mournful emotions. Before any tears could form, Ezra hid the picture back into the empty box. He moved the shoe box deep into his messy closet. He didn't want to ruin his mood for this particular exciting day simply due to the loss of someone he deeply cared about.
As Ezra rose to get dress, the most disruptive human being began to loudly bang against his bedroom door.
"Get up, Loser!" Ezra overhead through the loud knock behind his bedroom door. "It's almost 9:30!" A high-pitched voice called out.
"Wake up!" Aurie continued to pound against the door. Ezra had enough and swung the door open to see the presence of a little annoying sister who looked like she had just been attacked by a bear.
When people first meet Aurora, she usually appeared to many as an innocent and kind person. Yet, looks can be deceiving. Ezra believed the devil lived inside since the time she was born. She would always try her best to ruin Ezra's life. He wasn't quite sure why she despised him so much. It didn't help that she always wanted to be in control of everything. Whenever she was younger, he'd always try to help and comfort her. Now, he could care less about how she felt about him.
"For once could you not be annoying?" Ezra groaned.
"Nope. It's in my DNA," Aurie grabbed a small section of skin from his arm and sharply pinched him with her freshly done sharp nails. Ezra hissed and tried to grab her arm, but Aurie was quick to escape back to her cage.
He took in deep breaths to relax himself instead for going after her for revenge. It was the more mature approach. Ezra was almost eighteen years old. He didn't need to get himself into any more drama with a fourteen year old girl. He was almost heading off to college, he didn't have time to waste on silly feuds.
Was she somewhat being an ass this morning? Yeah, but Ezra wasn't going to allow her to ruin the perfect day ahead.
Ezra shut the door behind him and returned to get ready. Ezra looked down at the green cap and gown laid on his bed. Neatly and cleaned, ready to be worn for this wonderful morning.
