the scent of roses linger in my blankets, the sun peaking through the curtains bathing her hair in gold
high up in the tower where the birds are up close, how will i get down when someday she finds out who i am? ;
she has never touched the grass but somehow, trust grew like vines, holding her close to me
i fear the day i'll have to jump to my own demise, when she doesn't let her hair down.

the locks i braid for her made me forget i'm just a thief
her crown is not the reason why i'm painting lanterns on her walls
in the kingdom far away i wish to walk with her, will she run when the guards find me? ;
rapunzel, you may let your hair down, i'll hold your hands when the grass tickle your feet
hide away in a cottage where it isn't lonely, rapunzel, a whole new freedom awaits before your feet.

and once the paint dries on the wall, when i watch you feed the ducks by the lake, this is the chapter where i give up hiding the wanted posters from you ;
i'll have to cut off the long braid from your head and replace it with a crown
i pull my hood up to protect you, and hide the person you thought you knew.
