the Unexpected

Explanation

Nagpunta kami sa cafeteria at buti na lang konti pa lang ang tao kaya nakahanap kami ng magandang place to sit down. Pagupo namin nakita ko si Lindsay na tumatakbo  papunta sa pwesto namin. Maybe hinabol nya kami at siguro tinatawag nya ko pero hindi ko lang narinig, mukhang hinihingal sya.

"Hey, I was calling you. Hi Xandy. Hi JC." her energy was back to normal when she saw Xandy at umupo sya sa pagitan naming dalawa. 

We eat together and Lindsay started to talk a lot and Xandy was so fond of her. Lindsay was so ecstatic sa pagkukwento kung gaano nya hinahangaan ang kakambal ko and I feel happy for her. We laugh and eat and chat together, a simple lunch made special by the people around me. 

I want to ask Lindsay what really happened why she told Jong about the camp but I don't want to ruin the moment. Until Xandy asked her to go with her to the Ladies' room para sa kikay-kit session nila. They leave me and JC for a while to hang out a little and they promised to be back before lunch is over.

And so we got some time alone.

"Best, parang pamilyar yang jacket na hawak mo." he was pointing at Locket's jacket na hindi ko pa naibabalik since hindi ko pa naman sya nakikita. Then my mind flows away na baka nagtetext na sya about sa brother's interview at baka naguusok na ang tenga nun sa galit. Unfortunately I don't have my phone with me.

"This, kay mushroom to. Ibabalik ko lang sa kanya." nasanay na talaga ako ng tawagin syang mushroom, kahit na ibang tao ang kausap ko yun ang nasasabi kong pangalan nya. No wonder nagtaka si JC kung sino ang tinutukoy ko.

"Mushroom?" he asked me immediately due to his surprise.

"I mean, your captain Locket." then we both laughed at each other dahil natawa sya sa tawag ko kay Locket. 

He asked me about the camp and I told him it was fun and very memorabe. He told me na magkakameron ng varsity night ang team nila and he was excited about that and he already asked Xandy to be his partner.

"Best, parang pumapayat ka yata." bigla nyang napansin sakin, kaya pala ang tagal nya kong tinitigan. 

Pareho sila ng sinabi ni Locket.

"Talaga? parang hindi naman." I touched my face to feel if hindi na nga ganun ka-taba yung pisngi ko because I actually didn't feel like pumayat nga ako.

Bigla syang lumapit at kinurot ang pisngi ko tulad ng lagi nyang ginagawa pag nagkakaasaran kaming dalawa at this time medyo masakit ang kurot nya kaya kinurot ko din sya sa pisngi. This is something we do when we missed teasing each other and I feel glad I feel so normal about it.

We stayed like this, dahil walang gusto bumitaw sa pisngi ng isa't-isa though masakit na yung pisngi ko.We are both laughing at each other when someone caught my attention and I lose hold of JC's cheeks at ganun din sya sakin.

Locket entered the cafeteria together with his friends na nakasuot pa ng jersey no.28. And I am sure for a second na nagkatinginan kami but his attention was focused on JC who gave him a salute gesture which he returns with a smile. While, he just simply ignored me until he was out of my sight as he get inside the extension of the cafeteria. 

I grab his jacket and I attempted to stand up and follow him but I think this moment is not a good time so I put the jacket back at the table.

Jong was not with them.

"Best." JC called me as if I am far away from him and his face was serious this time.

"Yes?" nakakapagtaka na nakita nya lang si Locket ay bigla na syang naging seryoso.
