"Suzie! This is Dustin. Do you copy? Over. Suzie—"

"Dustin," Max interrupted from next to me. "come on! She's not there."

"She's there," Dustin said, optimistically for the thousandth time that night. "all right? She'll pick up."

"Maybe Cerebro doesn't work." Will says, sitting up on his elbows.

"Or maybe Suzie doesn't exist." Lucas quipped, sitting up as well.

"She exists!" Dustin says, offended that Lucas could think such a thing.

"She's a genius and she's hotter than Phoebe Cates? No girl is that perfect."

"Is that so?" Max says, sitting up from her seat to face Lucas.

"I mean..." Lucas begins, knowing he messed up. "you're perfect. I mean, like, per—perfect in your own way. In your special—your own special way."

Max and I shared a look, bursting out into giggles at Lucas' attempt to save himself.

"Relax," Max says, her laughter dying down. "I was teasing. I'm obviously perfect and Dustin's obviously lying."

Standing up, Max holds her hand out to Lucas, pulling him off the grass.

"Come on, Don Juan." She says as they make their way down the hill.

"Where are you going?" Dustin asked.

"Home." Max simply said as they rush down the hill.

"Well..." Dustin shrugged, looking between Will and I. "guess it's just the three of us now."

"Um..." Will says, looking nervously at us. "it's late. Sorry. Maybe tomorrow we can play D&D. Or something fun. Like we used to?"

"Yeah," Dustin says, disappointment laced into his voice. "sure."

"Welcome home." Will says, making his way down the hill behind Max and Lucas.

"You're not going to ditch me for Steve, are you?" Dustin asked me.

"No," I say, shaking my head. "he's working late today. You can come visit us tomorrow though. I can let you in the back and everything."

"Sure." He nods at my attempts to make him feel better.

As I grab a duffel bag, the radio clicked on and distorted chatter made its way onto the radio, causing Dustin and I to rush over to it, Dustin tripping in the process as I kneel in front of it.

"Shit." I whisper as he picks up the radio.

"Suzie?" Dustin shouts. "Suzie, is that you?"

From what I could make out, a man was speaking Russian on the other side of the radio. My eyes widened as I look up at Dustin, his doing the same.

Reaching over, Dustin turned up the radio, the Russian echoing throughout the forest.

"Well shit." I sigh, looking at Dustin.

"Have a nice day." Robin says next to me in a monotone voice, handing ice cream to the couple in front of us as the Russian was still ringing in my head from last night.

"Thank you." The lady said, grabbing her ice cream as Dustin appeared from behind her, a wide smile on his face.

"Hi." He says to Robin.

"Hi." She responded, raising her eyebrows.

"I'm Dustin." He smiled, gesturing to himself.

"I'm Robin." She shrugged, pulling her lips into a thin line.
