Paragraph breaks

As you could probably tell by the title this will be about paragraph breaks!

A paragraph break is when you have space between your words so it's not just a block of sentences.

I've decided to start with this one since I've seen a lot of books without paragraph breaks. There's a great story in there! It just needs to be carved out a little more!

Example:

Jeffrey was very hungry. He didn't know what to eat. "Hey mom what should I eat?" He asked. "Eat a sandwich!" She yelled back. He groaned and fell over, dead. "Oh well, one less mouth to feed." She shrugged. "That's a bummer." Jeffrey's dad added.

Why this doesn't work-

it can really bother readers. It's hard for them to properly imagine the story you're crafting and it can be hard to read since everything is so squished together. They don't know who's talking until they've already read the sentence and it can be frustrating. I know this doesn't work because I've seen a lot of people on tik tok and in real life complain about it. It's almost like an immediate turn off

What to do instead-

A tip that helps me is that whenever the camera would move to someone else in a movie, thats where your break should be. There should be a break whenever someone new starts talking, when someone starts a new action, or when the subject is changed.

Example:

Jeffrey was really hungry. But he didn't know what to eat. "Hey mom what should I eat?"

"Eat a sandwich!" She yelled back.

Jeffry groaned and fell onto the floor, dead.

"Oh well, one less mouth to feed." His mother shrugged.

"What a bummer." His father added.

It's easier to read and easier to write in my opinion :)
