Have you ever met a man,
Who didn't know his name?
Was it Jess, John, or Joe?
He insisted it was a 'J',
likened to the singer,
that had money in his name.

Have you ever met a man,
Who thought that he could play?
A wood, wind, or strings?
He insisted it was a 'P',
and when he sat down to play,
magic was more than a name.

Have you ever met a man,
Who said the wildest of things?
Of adventure, youth, or love?
If you didn't know the truth,
you'd never believe,
that the old man never lied.

Have you ever met a man,
Who didn't remember your name,
but never forgot your face,
until the day that he died?
