Expect the unexpected.

Start from the beginning

I picked the bag off the ground and went through it just to get some ID, I stumbled upon her drivers license, it was definitely her. My heart began to race out of fear, what happened? I got out my phone and called Garcia and asked her to patch me in with Hotch.

"What's up sugarplum?" Garcia said cheery.

"Okay so I'm not exactly sure what happened, but   Y/N went on a walk to the grocery store and it had been over an hour and she didn't return so I went to go see what was taking so long, well I found her bag on the ground and not her." I said nervously.

"Oh oh dear, oh no, that doesn't sound good at all." Garcia said.

"Spencer, get to the BAU as soon as you look through Y/N's room for any clues, I'll have the rest of the team come in." Hotch stated.

"Y-yeah okay" My voice broke, I hung up the phone and returned back to the apartment. I am so stupid, I should've went with her. DC can be a dangerous place and her being an FBI agent could make her a target.

Once I arrived back, I immediately went to her room and began searching for anything that could help us find her. I felt weird looking through all her stuff, it's private and meant for her eyes only. I opened up the top drawer next to her bed, my eyes almost popped out of my head. She wasn't kidding about using toys, good to know. Underneath her toys seemed to be an envelope. Ah I remember giving her that envelope the night we got back from a case. No return address on it, that's very odd.

I opened up the letter and saw all these photos of Y/N being stalked, and they date back atleast three weeks. I gasped looking through all of them. How could she not tell us she was in danger? I quickly looked around the room to see if she had anything else we were missing. I couldn't find anything, but I did happen to see she has a framed photo of us sitting on her desk. It was from the weekend she took me to comic-con, she got it for me as a birthday gift. Just looking at the picture has me smiling like crazy.

I went over to my room to change into more presentable clothes and rushed down to the BAU. I was running at top speed to get up to the 6th floor, deciding against the elevator and using the stairs. I finally made it to the conference room, out of breath. I slapped the photos down onto the table and held onto my knees to catch my breath.

"Damn speedy, slow down there." Derek said.

"I-i can't" I breathed out, "I-it's my fault she's gone, I should've walked with her!"

"This is not your fault, there is no way to predict when something like this is going to happen, Reid." Hotch said calmly.

"But I could've prevented it! Look!" I grasped the envelope and took out all the pictures, lining them up for everyone to see. Everyone let out a small gasp, shocked to see that Y/N had a stalker and that she was actively hiding it from everyone.

Garcia busted into the room with her laptop almost screaming.

"You guys, it goes a little deeper as well, a couple days ago Y/N got an email sent to her of this," Garcia put it on the screen. It was a photoshopped picture with her head chopped off, the message saying, "we shall meet again, in due time."

"Did you get a hit on who sent it?" Rossi asked. Garcia shook her head.

"Whoever sent this is a bit of a genuis because I couldn't break through their firewall to get their IP address, they must've been thoroughly planning this." Garcia ranted. All of this talk about Y/N being gone is making me feel sick.

"Well it seems like she's met the person before, just look at the message the unsub left in the email," Emily stated. I started to ponder on who she knew that could've done this. My mind traveled back to when she was seeing that guy, trevor? No that wasn't his name.. troy? No.

"Travis!" I shouted, "remember she was talking to a guy named Travis, you should look him up. He worked in HVAC, so he knows his was around tools."

"Okay that's a good start, she definitely had his phone number, I'll trace him through that and see if I can find any dirt on him, to the lair I go!" Garcia rushed out of the room. The rest of the team kept talking about other theories just in case this wasn't what happened. I couldn't sit in there hearing her name and unsub in the same sentence, I needed to go for a walk. I stood up from my chair and announced that I would be right back.

I walked around the building, trying to clear my head. It kills me to know that she's out there somewhere getting hurt, and I can't do anything about it. I wish she would've told me what's going on so we could've prevented this from happening. I rubbed my temples, trying to understand what could've happened. A thought popped up into my head. My 'ex' used to work for an art museum, specifically in the photography department.

I ran to Garcia's room and barged in.

"So I'm looking into Travis and there's nothing-"

"Look up Genevieve Raine." I cut Garcia off. She typed it into her computer.

"Who's that?" She asked, I shuttered at the thought of having to explain.

"She is my ex whatever, we were seeing each other for a couple of months and then well, I know you know that Y/N and I slept together, and I was with Genevieve at the time, and Y/N met her the morning after we, you know." I awkwardly explained.

"Ohhhh," Garcia said, "She's the reason Y/N ran to my apartment and was mad at you, I remember, but what would she want from Y/N? You're the one who cheated."

"Well Genevieve and I weren't actually dating, but I don't know, maybe she saw Y/N as a threat to us but I ended it between us anyways when Y/N and I started-" I cut myself off.

"No no, no more secrets Reid, this could solve the puzzle, you have to tell the truth." Penelope stated, I sighed.

"Okay, I ended things with Genevieve when Y/N and I decided to be friends with benefits, okay?" I said. Garcia gasped.

"How long has this been going on?" Penny asked.

"Just a few weeks," I shrugged, she smirked at me. "What?"

"You guys are doing it on the regular, Derek owes me $50,"

"For what?" I asked.

"Well we knew you guys would end up together, I mean c'mon the chemistry is unmatched, but we bet to see if you would just go right into dating or mess around first. I said mess around, Derek said date." She explained, I shook my head.

"What is wrong with you guys, when did you make this bet?" I questioned.

"The first week she started working here," Garcia shrugged.

"That was so long ago, and seriously the first week? What if she ended up with Anderson or something?"

"Oh sweetie, we could tell by the way you guys looked into each other's eyes, it was meant to be," Garcia placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Well it won't be anything if we don't find her," I huffed. Garcia nodded and continued to look into Genevieve's background. She gasped. I looked over her shoulder at the computer to see that she has a record, and a long one at that. She had gone to jail twice but was out on bail. She had started by hurting guys, but that was no fun because they didn't suffer, so she went to hurting girls to watch the men that hurt her, suffer. I can't believe I was with a sociopath.

I knew where her house was and I took down any other addresses we might need to find her. I rushed back into the room to let the team know who the unsub was and how to find Y/N. We split up into teams, going to two separate places, Genevieve's house and her Mom's house. Derek, Rossi and I went to Genevieve's house while Prentiss and Hotch went to the mom's house.

Morgan drove, and this time I was thankful for his fast and reckless driving. We arrived in 10 minutes, just being in front of the house is making me uneasy. The fact that I have been here before, and that Y/N could possibly be held up here because of me is torturous. I hope she's okay. I can't live my life without her in it.
