Jungkook was a normal boy. Although more on the shy side, he was a normal boy on the playground. The playground filled with a lot of other children. He was like them. A normal child, wanting to play. Why wouldn't he be normal?

He stared at the other children. They seemed happy playing with each other, and he couldn't help but feel a little out of place. They all seemed like they belonged, and Jungkook couldn't help the feeling of anxiousness he got when he looked out at them. He looked back at his mother who seemed busy talking on her phone while on a bench, and then back out to the playground. He just had to blend in and talk to the other children. It should be fine. He was normal like the other children. Nothing could go wrong.
He kept trying to convince himself to go, but something was holding him back. He had looked at a group of older children and felt his nerves kick in.

The nervousness only doubled as he looked at the children talking eagerly to each other. The group looked cheerful while playing with each other, yet Jungkook felt intimidated by them. Older children were sometimes scary after all, and having to talk to them is even scarier. Especially for Jungkook, who just couldn't help the cold sweat from appearing after the thought of just going there to try and join. So he decided to look for some others to play with, but before he could, one from the group noticed him and smiled widely. A smile so bright, you'd normally only see it when someone was truly ecstatic.

"Hey there! Come on, join us!" The child had shouted and waved at Jungkook so he could join them. That got the rest of their attention. The group, after having taken in the sight of the nervous boy, all smiled at him. After seeing them smile so warmly, Jungkook hesitantly went there, standing next to the one that shouted for him to come.

"My name is Taehyung! I'm 8 years old" Taehyung, the boy that shouted for Jungkook, announced, showing nine fingers to Jungkook as he smiled. Jungkook nodded at him, and then looked at the others as they began introducing themselves.

"I'm Jimin! 9 years old"

"I'm Namjoon, 10 years old, nice to meet you"

"Hiiii, I'm Hoseok and I'm also 10, nice to meet you!!"

"I'm Yoongi, I'm 11."

"I'm also 11, but turning 12! And the name is Seokjin~"

After they had all introduced themselves in their own unique ways, all doing a unique gesture and showing warm welcoming smiles so the youngest wouldn't feel out of place, Jungkook took a deep breath. He tried preparing himself for what will happen, and tried calming down his nerves. They were just children like him, he didn't need to feel this scared. They may be older, but they were children nonetheless.

"I'm Jungkook....7 years old" he said shyly as he smiled back to all of them, warming up to the idea of them possibly being his new friends. Jungkook did have friends but they lived further away, so it was nice to meet some he could be close with. Some he could actually meet up with so he wouldn't feel as lonely as often.

And so, the day went on. Jungkook had eventually opened up more to the other boys, with them listening eagerly to everything the young boy had to say. They seemed to enjoy his company and were all happy he joined. It made Jungkook feel relieved. Maybe older boys weren't as scary. Or maybe it was just this specific group of people that made him feel safe.
