The house was quiet, the living room neatly kept, as always, when you walked through the halls. You didn't quite know why you did so, but something dragged you there like a magnet. Soft music played distantly from the record player, mirroring your carefree mind.

The sun shone in from outside, a warm breeze blew gently through the white curtains that prevented you from seeing what was behind the open terrace door. You slid them aside and stepped out into the garden. There they were. Two kids, a boy and a girl, sitting in the grass and facing each other. They both wore the bright white outfits you had prepared in the morning and giggled at each other's jokes, eyes squeezed shut from laughter and the summer sun that shone onto their heads. They might need some hats. White ones, of course, to match their outfits.

You heard something rattling from inside the house. Tummy preparing lunch perhaps?

The two children looked over and waved their small hands, happy to see you. You returned the gesture, waved back smiling and stepped forward to sit with them.

Before you could though, the noise from inside returned. You turned around and watched your husband step out the terrace door. His navy suit brought out his eyes. You watched how it hugged around his shoulders and chest when he moved, flawlessly tailored to his body. He caught you looking, so you averted your gaze and almost missed him smiling at you.

"Left work early today," he said before greeting you with a kiss.

"Daddy!" the kids cheered simultaneously as they ran up to him.

Tom opened his arms and caught them both when they jumped onto him. More giggling and laughter filled the warm air as he spun around in circles with them.

You opened your eyes slowly as the morning sun still hid behind a wall of thick, dark clouds. The blue, dim light occupying the bedroom was asking you to fall back asleep, but a familiar hand on your back, that wasn't your own, was gently inspecting if you were awake.

"Good morning," you mumbled as you turned around.

"Morning," Tom replied, the same rasp in his voice as every day when he woke up. "Sleep well?"

You moved closer and laid your head onto his shoulder. "I think so."

"You think so?" he asked. "I think you'd know if it was a good night's sleep or not."

"I slept well. I just had a peculiar dream right before I woke up."

"A nightmare?"

"No. It was just strange."

"What was it about?"

"I don't really remember."

You did. There were children in your dream. Tom's and yours apparently. They looked like a perfect blend of you both. And they were happy. All four of you were. Picture perfect. Just a dream...
