"Shoyo! Let's get going! you're gonna be late!" Y/n yelled as her younger brother struggled to put his blazer on and eat his morning meal at the same time. Shoyo overslept again on morning practice and now he's rushing out the door before Y/n to get his bike.

"I'm sorry!" He yelled back all panicky as he rushed out the door bike in hand speeding down the hill, even at this rate he'll be late, it's quite the show to see him so panicked about practice this early in the morning, the girl can barely stay awake at this hour.

She still had a good hour before school started, she began at her own pace, first starting with her morning duties. Y/n sluggishly made her way to the dining table, organizing the leftover food from Shoyo's breakfast into different bags, knowing it would be useful for making dinner later in the day. She slowly started to wake up as she finished up cleaning the rest of the dishes, barely getting any sleep from Shoyo's agonizing snores in the room beside her's.

Slowly, but surely Y/n started to prepare a small breakfast for the rest of her family, nothing out of the ordinary for her, it was the same pattern every day, just as she heard the faint footsteps of her mother upstairs signaled her to start preparing for the day ahead.

Heading back up and getting dressed in her creased uniform, shoving her blazer deep into the void that was her school bag, stuffing in a few textbooks and snacks it was all she needed, including some random clothes in a spare p.e bag she takes to school with her.

Making a mental checklist of what she's packed with her, Hinata was ready to get out of her cozy home once again to face the tiring school day all over again. Locking the door on her way out, heading the opposite direction of Shoyo's normal pathway, a shortcut she found last year, keeping it secret from her younger brother.

Every morning Y/n  passes a street filled with modern Japanese-styled homes, the fresh spring air calming her senses. She passes a specific household every day, her old friend Tanaka's house from her first year in Karasuno. They both became close quickly after they met in class 1-2, always messing around and having the time of their lives in a single classroom.

They helped each other practice often, Y/n practiced the Libero position just for fun at first, and to help her brother, but after she met a specific person it all changed, and found a love for the sport herself. Eventually, Y/n had to be moved up, though she misbehaved and got on her teacher's nerves they acknowledged her talents and grades, moving her up to class 3, whilst Tanaka moved down to class 1. Though the two were separated they still had a strong bond and stayed in contact for a long time.

Passing a few more blocks, she eventually made her way to her school, at 8:35, calmly making her way up to the second floor, ready to begin another boring day, in a class she never pays attention to.

When the break finally began, Y/n barely had the time to take her lunch box out before somebody was calling her name, "Hinata! There's someone at the door for you!" A classmate of her's called out, getting closer to the door she noticed it was none other than her friend, Tanaka, once again.

"Awh! Ryū! Missed me already huh?" Y/n teased, punching his arm playfully as the two made their way out into the hallway, filled with students from other classes, "Right, I heard it all before, now listen." The moment his sentence started, she could already have an idea of what he wanted out of her, "I need your help with something."

"What's up? You never ask me for favors."

"Well you see... our Libero has been, uh- suspended for a week and banned from club activities for a month, " Tanaka explained, fiddling with his hands a little;

"Do you think you could help us with practice? Just until he's back! That's all!"

"Yeah sure-"

"REALLY?!"

She got cut off by the boy quickly, slowly nodding in response to his question, "Great! Thank you so much! I'll see you at practice today if that's fine with you!" He exclaimed as he started to walk off back to his classroom, getting a nod and wide smile from the girl as they separated ways again, waving each other bye before getting back to their classes.

'A Libero huh? Did I ever meet him?'

. . . TIME SKIP

She ran down the stairs from the women's changing room full speed to the gym the team holds their practice in, eager to play again and enjoy it. Y/n was introduced to the now third years in the past already during a conversation with Tanaka, but no one got to know each other better until now. She barged in through the heavy metal doors, stopping the others in their tracks, confused.

"hey! You finally made it!" Tanaka exclaimed, giving Y/n another big wave from across the gym, "Guys this is the Libero I've been talking about, Hinata Y/n, a second year."
He introduced the girl as she walked deeper into the gym, seeing a few familiar faces as she looked around.

"Y/n! You're gonna be playing with us?!" Shoyo exclaimed as he ran up to his older sister, bouncing on his feet for an answer.

"Yup! But it's only for about a month, be thankful that Tanaka dragged me into this." She had a bright grin on her face that could light up the world, patting her brother's head as if he was still a young kid in her eyes.

"It's great to see you again Y/n! It's a shame we didn't get to talk more last year!" Sugawara smiled, tuning into the conversation,

"Right back at you, Suga!" Y/n smiled back, pointing finger guns at him which he returned,

"I never would've thought you played volleyball, thanks for helping us out!" Daichi stepped into the conversation.

"It's nothing really, I really like the sport, I'd be thanking Tanaka if I were you" The wide smile stayed glued on her face as she caught up with the rest of the team members, being introduced to the new first years at the same time, it still felt strange not seeing her old upperclassmen from first-year.

After everyone got introduced to their new player, everybody began to warm up with simple stretches and quick exercises, which didn't take long, but soon after they were done Shoyo came back up.to his sister, "Say, you remembered to take your iron vitamins today, right?" He asked a worried look painted on his face.

Y/n grew paler as she remembered, the one crucial part of her day happened to completely fly over her head, "Oh yeah I completely forgot those existed... " She mumbled in embarrassment, turning around to the rest of the team.

"I'll be right back I forgot to get something! It'll be quick!" Y/n called out, getting the go-ahead before rushing out the door for her medication.

Ever since a young age, the girl has dealt with Iron deficiency, she has an ongoing problem with fainting if she doesn't take them daily, but that won't just help, of course; she's on a high iron diet that she has to keep up with, but it's not difficult to manage and it doesn't get in the way of anything unless she forgets to take her iron supplements or doesn't eat a proper meal in several days. After she quickly found her pill bottle and swallowed the medication, she hurried back to the gym, hoping she didn't hold up practice too long. "Sorry for the wait!" she apologized, running back to the group who gave her a reassuring smile.

And with that... they all began to play again, with Y/n, slowly regaining her love for a sport, once again.
