Ink pondered.

"How long has it been..." He said.

He stopped counting years a long time ago.

"Since what?" Error lazily replied. He was on the brink of falling asleep. His skull was placed in the middle of Ink's crossed-legs. They were relaxing in OuterTale as usual.

Ink sighed, "I mean, how long has it been? Like, how long have we been here? How long has it been since I've been drinking these?" Ink pointed to his vials, "How long has it been since I've had no soul?"

Error woke up a little, "Where'd that come from, Kiky?" He was a little worried about Ink's well-being but, he would never tell Ink that directly.

"Well... I've just been thinking hard lately... I vividly remember... um... tearing my soul apart... but... I don't remember it disappearing necessarily. So... what if... it's still out there somewhere? In pieces? Waiting for me..?" Ink questioned.

Error was surprised that Ink suddenly opened up to him like this. Well, in a different way. Usually, Ink would be the one Error would open up to. I guess it is easier when you do have a soul.

"Well, hypothetically speaking, if your soul is still out there in pieces, where do you think it'd be?" Error asked, curious. He had a strange feeling that this might turn into something more...

Ink shrugged, "Dunno. But I will tell you, I'd search every single AU to find it. I'm tired of having fake feelings... I want to love you, I really do... but I can't..." Ink felt a wave of sadness brush over him.

Error sat up and gave Ink every bit of his attention as he said, "You don't have fake feelings, Ink. Or, at least your thoughts aren't fake, and..." Error looked away, blushing (He's not the mushy type), "...You just wanting to hangout with me is enough-"

"-It's not enough for me. I need to know, Error. I feel empty, even with these fake emotions. I want to feel whole for once in my pointless life," Ink stood up, "If you don't want to help me, that's fine, but I gotta know..." Ink started to walk away, still deep in thought, but Error grabbed his hand.

"I'm coming with you, idiot. I'm not that terrible," Error said with a smirk, "Besides, if you're wrong, you'll prolly be depressed n'all... gotta be there for you n'crap..." Ink, thinking Error is an adorable Tsundere, smiled and excitedly asked where they should go first.

"Maybe not-so-known AUs or AUs that Askers and Creators like to talk to people in would be a good start... but what do soul fragments even look like..? It doesn't matter... I'll probably know it when I see it..." Ink rambled on and Error just waited for it to end.

[END OF PART 1]

Author's Note:

I'm super excited for this series! I've given a lot of thought onto how Ink lost his soul and in the comic, it doesn't necessarily show Ink's soul disappearing, does it? It just showed him tearing it apart. So I thought, "What if his soul isn't gone, gone? What if it's just in pieces and scattered across the AUs?" And then I thought, "Yo, I should make a story outta dis-" And so I did... or I am. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoy writing it! I love the Errorink ship and the thought of Error helping Ink find his soul fragments just made me feel feelings. I don't have too many of those, so that's saying a lot. Anyways, thanks for joining me on this roller coaster!

(Don't worry, there will be some delicious romance, but that will come later on. They just started dating so, they're not too serious. They haven't even had their first kiss yet! Tee hee~)
