"Lotti, what happened to your eye?" Harlem's 3 year old sister, Semaji, asked, poking the slightly bruised skin under Harlem's eye, and she couldn't help but flinch a little. "Oop, sowwy."

"It's okay, I got hit with a door at school earlier this week," Harlem replied, to which Semaji made an angry face.

Semaji favored Harlem in a way but looked more like their mom due to her deep brown skin and large brown eyes, complimented by her long eye lashes.

"It okay, I beat them up for you. Ki kiss it better?" Semaji asked, holding Harlem's face and she nodded, letting her younger sister press a sloppy kiss on her eye.

"Thank you Maji, it feels much better now," She said, smiling at her younger sister, who smiled cheekily in return before running off down the hall in the apartment.

"You have a big ass bruise," Harlem's 8 year old brother, Ni'San, said, walking into the kitchens and Harlem mugged him slightly. "Oooh, I forgot to watch my language goody two shoes, my bad."

Rolling her eyes a little, she went back to scrolling on her phone at the kitchen table. It was a Saturday morning, and the house was as loud as it was on a normal weekday.

"Momma, Tylin took my toy!" Semaji screeched loudly, followed by a loud cry from Tylin's mouth, who was Harlem's 6 year old brother.

"Tylin, give that girl her toy back before I hurt you! Lord have mercy," Harlem's mother said, shaking her head as she walked into the kitchen, fully dressed for work. "Where Tribute at?"

"I think he went to play ball with his friends." Harlem lied straight through her teeth, knowing where he really was.

"Mm, aight. I heard you got yourself a job, don't let it cut into your school work or Imma make you quit, okay?" Tamia pinched her daughter's cheek, and Harlem couldn't help but smile. "Ms. Anika is about to be over here, so when she comes you can go hang out."

Harlem nodded and chewed on her inner cheek, feeling bad about lying to her mother about getting a job. It was the only way to cover up for her being out of the house so much, and hopefully she didn't get caught in her lie.

She got up from the kitchen table and walked past the living room to go to her room so she could get dressed in actual clothes.

"Lotti you have games on your phone?" She heard her younger brother Tylin ask, and she turned around, seeing a big goofy ass smirk on his face, his front top tooth missing.

"No, sorry." She shook her head and he frowned deeply.

"I hope you drop your phone in the sewer you rat!" And with that he ran away from her door, causing her to turn her lip up a little at him.

What is wrong with these kids? So bad for no reason.

Harlem's phone buzzed in her hand, and she saw a text from Diamond.
