I Love You

You and Bucky are besties (for now 😏), but the whole team ships you, especially Steve. You guys both really like each other but neither of you know it...

You had just woken up, and you looked at the your clock. 9:00. OH SHIT! You had mission with Bucky in 15 min and had barely any time to get ready. (me on a school day) You rushed out of bed and quickly put your suit on, pulling up your hair as you ran downstairs to eat breakfast. The rest of the Avengers have a day off and are still asleep. Bucky was already down in the kitchen.
"Y/N! Come on we have to go!" Bucky said as he saw you, handing you a granola bar.
"Buck, I'm so sorry!" You said with your mouth full of granola bar.
"It's fine doll, we just have to leave now." He says back with a warm smile.
God, his smile, those eyes...the man of your dreams. You have wanted to say you loved him since you guys became friends, but you weren't sure if he felt the same. Your mind wandered as you thought of him, completely forgetting everything around you...
"Hellooooo? Y/N? Hey!", he snaps you back to reality.
"Oh, sorry. I zoned out for a bit.", you mumbled with a nervous laugh.
"It's fine. Now let's go!", Bucky smiles back.

Time skip brought to you by ✨America's Ass✨

You guys arrive at the mission site and begin. The site is an old base camp and your mission is to download some files onto a SHIELD flash drive. Bucky walks in first scanning the room for any people or traps. He sees nothing so he waves you in, but at that exact moment, guards run in from the door you can in from. You and Bucky have a hard fight, but beat them. (obv bc y'all make an iconic duo 😌) You guys are more careful now, not wanting to be ambushed again. You continue walking until you finally get to the place to download the files. Bucky stands to the side as you hack the computer to finish the mission. As you do this, you notice Bucky's body shift awkwardly.
"Bucky? Are you ok?" You ask, wondering what was wrong.
"Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine.", he chuckles nervously.
"Ok, good", you smile to let him know he can trust you.
Some time passes as you keep downloading the files. And your mind keeps wandering to Bucky. You almost want to scream at the love you felt for him, but will he ever love you? You guys are besties, so you don't want to ruin the friendship. You sigh and continue on with the mission. As you're waiting, Bucky keeps on shifting and looks as though he has a secret, but you guys tell each other everything.
"Buck, are you sure you're ok?", you question again getting worried now.
"Actually, Y/N, I have to tell you something.", he blurts out, anxiousness written all over his face.
"Ok, go on...", you say back, slightly excited.
"I...I love you Y/N.", he says barely above a whisper.
You stand there shocked, happiness pouring through you, as Bucky continues on.
"I have loved you ever since we became best friends. They way you smile, and the way your eyes light up when you talk about something you like. Your personality is my favorite out of anyone I've met, and you have the kindest heart out of everyone. Everything about you is amazing! You are so beautiful and I don't think I could ever deserve someone as wonderful as you! I love you with all of my heart Y/N.", he confesses everything, and he sees your eyes swell with tears.
You could NOT believe your ears. He loves you too? You can barely speak with how happy you are but manage to get out one sentence.
"I love you too, Bucky.", you whisper, almost choking on your happiness.
He smiles the biggest smile you have ever seen and pulls you in for a hug. His hug is so warm and comforting, like you would safe from anything while in his arms. He pulls back slightly and caresses your cheek.
"May I?", he says softly, wanting to kiss you.
You nod, and he kisses you so softly it's hardly a kiss. You press your lips against his a little bit more. This tender kiss goes on for a second or two longer before you a hear a small crash from a little bit away. You both gasp, smiling before sprinting with the flash drive back to the quinjet.

As you and Bucky walk back in to the Avengers tower, he grabs your hand and leads you to your room and tells you to meet him in the living room in 5 minutes. The other Avengers had called earlier to say they were out for lunch. He goes to his room and, you guess, he changes out of his suit. You squeal leaning against your door and wonder what Bucky wants. You change into a comfy pair of sweatpants and an oversized shirt. You try to walk to the living room, but your eagerness made that incredibly hard. You get to the living room and see Bucky already there, sitting on the couch. He's also holding to bowls of mac and cheese, your favorite (or whatever food you prefer 🙃).
"Hi! I have some lunch for us. And we can watch something while we eat.", he says excitedly.
"Thank youuuu!", you almost shout, barely being able to contain your happiness.
You practically jump onto the couch and immediately cuddle up to Bucky, taking one of the bowls from him. He seems a little surprised by this gesture, but quickly relaxes.
"So, what do you wanna watch?", he asks handing you the remote, but a little awkwardly.
You take it and click on your favorite movie.
"Is this one okay?", you ask him, also a little awkwardly.
"Yup!", he says, smiling.
You press play and it starts showing the first scene. However, neither of you are paying much attention to the movie, being to focused on the fact that you guys had just confessed your love for each other and are now cuddling. Around halfway through the movie, Bucky starts absentmindedly playing with your hair. You think it's the sweetest thing he can do, and you reach your head up to kiss him. He brings his head down a little to connect his lips to yours, but at that exact moment, the Avengers walk through the door and see you two.
"OH. MY. GOD. FINALLY!", Tony shouts as he sees you, breaking you and Bucky apart.
" We knew it, we knew it!", Nat and Clint say together, just smiling.
Steve, quite literally, just gasps and passes out. All you and Bucky can do is just smile stupidly at the scene that just happened. You and Bucky were finally together, and that's all you ever needed.
