It's just my mom and me now. My parents just got divorced and I'm staying with my mom while my brothers stay with my dad. We always moved around a lot because of my dads job, but we were always together because to us family is everything. I'm the youngest of the family which means that my brothers were very protective of me, I guess now that I don't live with them, I can finally have some freedom.

Moving in the middle of your sophomore year of high school isn't exactly anyone's dream but you get used to it after a while.

"Aurora, put up your journal, we're here." I hear my mom say from the front seat. I look out the window, the one good thing about my moms new job is that she gets payed good so our new house is huge and in a beautiful neighborhood.

I put my journal back into my bag and step out of the car.

"Rora, can you start bringing in some of these boxes and setting them in the living room please?" My mom asks while unlocking the front door to our new house.

"Yeah I can" I reply while opening the trunk.

I start to bring in some of the bigger boxes and look over at my neighbors house. Sitting outside on their porch are four kids, three boys and one girl, they all look about my age.

After we bring all of the boxes inside I search for my skateboard. After looking through five different boxes I finally find it and head outside onto the street.

Whenever I'm skateboarding I blast music through my AirPods so I don't have to hear anyone around me this is good and bad, good because I don't have to hear anyone's boring conversations but bad because if someone's yelling my name or trying to get my attention I can't hear them.

After going to the end of the street I turn around to head back and do it again, and as I pass the neighbors house I can't help but look over at them and wonder if I should go over and say hi or try to make a friend.

For a few seconds one of the boys and I lock eyes. Only for a few seconds though because I look back at the road in front of me so I don't run into anything.

After going back and forth about three times as I reach the new house I see my mom waving for me to come inside. I set my skateboard up against the house on the porch and go inside to unpack some of my things.

I've spent about two hours unpacking and by now it's almost 1 am I have my first day of school tomorrow and I want to make some what of a good impression and look decent so I go on to bed.
