I was late, again.

I rushed down the hallway to try to at least get a good spot for my service hours.

My older brother and sister both said that one of the worst jobs you can have is roadside assistance, aka community service. What I was looking for was he best service elective, home economics, in which we make goodies and take it to shelters for the needy, but the leftovers are for the rest of the class.

Although I had set my alarm for 6:30 am, I didn't wake up until it was 7:15 and school started at eight o'clock sharp.

So getting a good service hour was more crucial than getting to class on time.

I raced down the hall and shoved others shoulders to get to the bulletin board.

7:44 am

Crap. I had less than twenty minutes to get my books, get to class, and sign up for my service hour.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I spotted the board and slowed down a bit so I could breath again.

I grabbed a pen and looked at the open options.

-children's club

-hospital help

-roadside assistance

-tutor times

Damnit! No home economics! I pursed my lips in frustration and dropped the pen and let it dangle.

I readjusted my strap and headed to my class.

My sneakers padded the tile floors and it was eerily quiet. I glanced at my watch and my eyes, I swear you, my eyes bugged out of my head.

7:57 am

I sprinted down the hallways to my first period class, English Literature. The teacher was basically hell on legs. She was a force to be reckoned with and damn I didn't want to get on her bad side.

It's impossible to understand the quantum of physics when you barely understand reality itself. But for me it's been a little bit easier since im actually passing my physics class with flying colors when most of the student body is failing beyond measure.

Everything was fine until that fatal moment when I accidentally stayed after class too long while gathering up my books and trying to head to lunch.

"Ms. Evans, may I see you for a moment?" My physics teacher, Mr.Syches, asked before setting down his pen and folding his hands on his lap.

I begrudgingly shuffled over to his desk and readjusted my backpack strap, trying to take some of the weight off my back.

"Yes? You wanted to see me, sir?" I looked up at him and stopped fidgeting in my shoes. He smiled back at me and reclined back into his chair.

"Ellie, you're exceeding in this class and there's only a handful of people that can say that they're passing," He chuckled, but continued.

"But that's not what we're here to discuss. You understand how hard the material is and I wanted to know about your opinions on tutoring." He said and rubbed his chin.

"I mean it's an okay thing to do, if you're into that." I replied, while thinking about it for about two minutes.

"Well, it seems that you're inclined to tutor one of the failers in this class."
