To start without knowing how to end in peace
I look at the stars and hope I know what bliss
Is waiting for me, now that silence has reigned
With the brushes of danger, safety have we feigned
To end without knowing how else did we start
I peer at the highway of our favored impart
Chase you now—down the regrets of your mind
Tell me, are you tired or are you just blind?
To all the choices presented that you could take
Do you throw them all away for your own sake?
In the end, darling, you don't even have a clue
Of the chances upon chances I kept giving you

To stay in the clockwork knowing how the world turns
I stare from the sides, keeping watch as your soul burns
Tell me, what else do you suppose you have left
Are they courage, bravery, even contempt in theft?
Perhaps, I don't know you enough to conclude
But I saw you in dark nights—singing just the preludes
Catch you now—it seems you're drowning for too long
But from what?—I ask as I open my arms to belong
They say love should be done without conditions
But if it's us, should it have been a decision?
Because in your silence, I really want to let go
But chances upon chances have I learned to leave so

My hands are stretched out—please take it
Every time, it hurts to see you stricken and bit
For you—I could have given the world to explore
So why can't I make you smile just a few seconds more?
Your wants, your needs—your dreams fulfilled too
What else do you need to find joy in what you do?
The stains of hardships can't be found in you
I did everything I could just so your happiness ensue
So why is it that you chose to stay where you are
Do you relish your wounds until they pester and scar?
Do you see ruin as triumph as you go your way?
Why do I give chances upon chances just for you to stay?

My heart is tired after years of denying want
It hurts—so much—when all I have is scant
But for you—I did it all because of the love I have
Tell me, should I lift my eyes to the skies above?
To gaze at a semblance of the time when it's good
The past is gone but favored—that I understood
So what changed? What have we done to deserve this?
Was it me? LIfe? Were they the chances I gave to miss?
Love, talk to me about the reason we spiraled down
Stay with me even if we don't get to leave this town
Open your heart because I don't know how to help now
I'd give you chances upon chances until you figure out how

This was finished being written at 11:53 PM and don't ask me why I'm writing poetry so late at night. I slept at 4 AM that day too. haha.

Basically, I figured out the whole theme of this collection as I finished writing this poem. Now, I have to change the foreword or whatever.

Well, Soft Clouds, Crystal Skies is a poetry collection that deals with finding the courage in finding love, continuing to love, and in letting go of love.

Chances Upon Chances talks about the "continuing to love" part.
