It is Friday afternoon. The week went by quick to my surprise. Harry and I were in the library the majority of the week studying for the Science midterm we had on Thursday.

I pushed him for more information on his family problems that he mentioned last weekend. He said his dad was struggling with alcoholism again. He had been sober for most of Harry's life, but was an alcoholic before Harry was born. He said his dad has started drinking again, so he has had to take care of him a lot more. He didn't really go into much more detail. I felt bad, but felt like I shouldn't push any further. He did say that is why he never drinks and hasn't in a long time. He doesn't want to end up like his dad, being a burden on someone else.

Onto a happier subject, the grades were posted this morning for our exams and we both passed! We had a celebratory lunch that included crepes. They were really yummy.

I met up with my friend Missy after lunch and we went shopping at some of the stores on the boardwalk. I got a new green cover up to wear for beach parties. She got a new sun hat.

Oh and I almost forgot, there is this charity ball tomorrow to raise money for kids with cancer. It is actually a two weekend event, so the ball is this Saturday and then the following Friday night is another fancy masquerade ball followed by an  obstacle course/picnic on Saturday.  Most of the town will get dressed up and go tomorrow. It's at this cool music pier theater on the boardwalk, it has a huge ballroom. Harry told me he will be there, I told him I'm a bit nervous and unsure what to wear. He told me it's a pretty big event so I should go for a fancier look. I guess he has been going the last 4 years.

Missy chose a blue dress from one of the boutiques, I tried on a red sparkly dress. I loved it, it may be a little overboard, but I was told this is a fancy event by Harry, so hopefully not!

Missy was also telling me about this new cute guy in her gym class, she said all she does is stare at him the whole time. She asked about my boyfriend, but to be honest it has been hard to keep in touch with Luke and my friends back in Pittsburgh, Jessica and Natalie. We are always on different schedules. I tried to FaceTime Natalie today, but she was being weird and said she couldn't. Not sure what that was about.

Missy asked me about Harry, I asked her what about him. She read my text messages with him and said she thinks he likes me. I told her she was crazy, we are just friends. Just friends now, just friends forever. She said she doesn't believe me, which made me start to doubt myself.

I said goodbye to Missy and decided to walk home. I pondered what she said about Harry and then decided to just brush it off, there is no way Harry has feelings for me.

I decide to lay out all of my make up and the dress for tomorrow night. Once I finished I went upstairs to join my parents for some Schitt's Creek Netflix binge watching. It was a relaxing night.

The next day I spent most of the day showering, doing my hair in tight curls, and trying to act like I knew how to do make up. Missy came over to get ready with me.

When she knocked on my door she was holding a tiny blue box.

"What is that Missy?" I ask.

"I'm not sure, I found it on your doorstep." She replies.

I take the box out of Missy's hand and stare at it curiously. There is not a note on the outside. I open the box to find an infinite necklace inside. I turn the necklace around to see on the back engraved there is the initials H+B. I instantly know it is from Harry.

Growing up we used to think we were cool putting H+B on everything we saw. We put it on trees and benches throughout the town.

This gift was a bit overwhelming for me as it brought up a lot of memories. I teared up a bit, but Missy wiped them before they could ruin my makeup.

I decided to wear the necklace as I had no other jewelry to put on for the ball. It was beautiful and I appreciated the sweet gesture from Harry. It's a friendship necklace right? Missy laughed at me calling it a friendship necklace and said yeah ok rolling her eyes. I'm just going to pretend she didn't respond that way. Harry and I were just friends, thinking he could like me as anything more would be crazy.

We both finally were ready to go by 7pm. The event started at 7pm, but it's fine to be fashionably late right?

My parents got all dressed up as well, my mom had on a yellow dress and my dad had a black tuxedo on. They looked very nice. My dad drove us to the pier.

As we got out of the car, the music pier was lit with colorful shining lights and lots of people entering the building.

I wasn't sure what this night had in store for me, but I knew it would be eventful.
