Chapter 14 || Epic Heroic Smackdown Part 2

Start from the beginning

Then, another memory surged through her mind. Like a movie playing at a cinema, but her cinema was her own mind.

"You've got this, Guppy!" Missy was chanting, holding Guppy's hand as she cross the tightrope.

"I'm scared, Missy!" Guppy was whimpering.

"Don't be scared. I'm right here. Ready to catch you if you fall. Always," Missy said, looking into Guppy's eyes.

Guppy smiled and began to confidently walk along the bouncy string. And when she was almost at the end, she let go of Missy's hand and walked by herself.

"Good!" Missy applauded.

"I love you, Missy," Guppy hugged her leg and Missy patted her hair.

Missy was plunged out of the memory and faintly, something in her mind remembered. Guppy... I made a promise to her to always be there, ready to catch her... But before she could think any further, she was attacked by another memory.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!" A-Capella was singing, "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Missy! Happy birthday to youuuuuuuu!"

And there were balloons. A-Capella leading the choir like a boss. This was from Missy's thirteenth birthday party! A-Capella ran over, giving Missy a hug.

"Happy birthday, bestie," she whispered into Missy's ear.

"The way you lead that choir shows you have great potential to lead a team," Missy whispered back.

"You think I can lead?" A-Capella stared into Missy's eyes.

"I don't think. I know you can lead."

"Promise you're not bluffing?"

"Not bluffing."

"I'm glad... you'll always be there for me," A-Capella smiled.

"I will," Missy promised.

Missy was pulled out again, but just as before, she was thrown back into another one. And this time, it was with Noodles.

"Noodles! Get off me! Not funny!" she yelled as Noodles stretched to tie her together underneath the tree, where they were playing hide and go seek tag.

"Nope! I'm staying to you like my grandma's fake teeth to her gums!"

"Ew!" Missy laughed, "Just let me go, okay?"

"Nooo!"

"WILDCARD! COME HERE!" Missy screamed, reaching out and tagging Wildcard with her foot.

"Aw, man! Noodles! You're supposed to grab her feet, too!" Wildcard whined.

Missy saw black again, then she was back in another memory.

Now, she was with Ojo. Back on their first mission.

"You have our word. Whenever you need us, we'll be there."

And it switched.

"Slo-mo! Move those hands faster! The clay's drying!" Missy was laughing as Slo-mo slowly carved the bowl of wet clay.

Finally, Slo-mo was done and he held up a warped pot.

"You know, not bad. Not bad." Missy smiled and put the pot on the shelf to dry.

"Thank... you..." Slo-mo said.

"You're welcome.

Now, she was with Wheels.

"I can't beat you in a running race, Wheels!" she exclaimed, "I can't! You're on WHEELS!"

"Well, try!"

"No... I hate running!"

"Just try! I believe in you!"

Then, she took off, running like lightning. And she beat Wheels.

"Told you," Wheels winked at her.

She was with Rewind and Fast Forward.

"Great job, Fast Forward! Excellent work, Rewind! Excellent work, Rewind! Excellent work, Rewind! Excellent work, Rewind! Excellent work, Rewind!" she was saying over and over again as Rewind rewinded her.

Fast Forward gave him a glance.

"I just like hearing her say it."

Now, she was with Facemaker.

"Two packs of candy for finishing that book today," he was saying.

"Fine," Missy rolled her eyes, finally agreeing to do a bet with Facemaker, though she knew she'd lose.

By the end of the day, she was one page away from finishing it.

"And who owes me two packs of candy?"

"Me," Missy groaned, handing him two packs of gummy bears.

"Thank you very much, milady!"

And finally... it was blank. Darkness. Missy sighed, thinking of all those memories. But none of them made her want to go back. So she sank further and further into the darkness before she saw one last glimpse. Wildcard's face. And he was surrounded by the other kids. Playing, working, being mischievous... and Missy knew she had to go to him. No matter how painful it might be. So she broke to the surface.
