Chapter twenty-nine

Start from the beginning

Normally I would get angry if someone spoke to me in such a tone, but not this time. I would do the same thing if I was in his place.

"There was a gift on her bed when we got in the room. She opened it, and after reading the accompanying card, she began to panic," I quickly explained to him.

I had to find out what was on the note. I noticed that it was laying on the floor right next to her. Without a second thought, I picked it up.

Before I could read it, Isaac and everyone else burst into the room. He immediately went over to Luna. Aiden and I stepped back, so they had their space.

He gently grabbed her chin even if she protested against his touch. He called her name a dozen times. And when she truly looked back at him, he started asking her things.

He knew exactly what to do, so that meant she had been through this several times.

It felt like someone had stabbed me time after time when the realization had hit me. And by the look on her brothers' faces they felt the same way. Even Cora, who was standing in the door frame, had tears in her eyes.

I focused on the card in my hands and started reading it.

My jaw clenched when I saw the words. The rage flowed through me like lava. I felt like destroying things to try and reduce the consuming anger.

Nick had left a message for her. A warning to let her know that he was not done with her.

He had abused her for years and still felt like tormenting her. He was the perfect representation of pure evilness.

Luna had told me a few things about her years with him. I knew he started his abuse when she was eight years and had hurt a lot over the years.

He was the cause of her ankle and all those scars on her body.

He had not only left physical scars, but also emotional scars that went deeper than any of us could imagine.

Worst of all, the sick bastard couldn't keep his hands to himself and did things that no person ever had to go through.

I was almost chocking on my own anger by thinking of what Nick had put her through.

However, I know I have to remain calm in her presence.

I felt Aiden, who was standing next to me, tense. His hands were trembling, and he was gritting his teeth.

I had known Aiden for a long time because our parents were allies and friends. He had trouble controlling himself. And by seeing his reaction, it wasn't going to be long before he exploded.

Ethan rushed to his side when he saw Aiden's tense posture. He laid his hand on his other half's shoulder, probably trying to warn him not to lose control in front of Luna, certainly not now that she's panicking.

Aiden's gaze returned to the card in my hands, and when I saw his face, I knew it was too late.

He was pushed over the edge, there was no going back now.

"How dare he threaten my little sister in our own fucking house," Aiden shouted.

I heard a whimper coming from Luna's direction as a reaction to his outburst.

Only Aiden and I had read the card and knew what had scared Luna into her panic attack, the others had no idea what was going on.

Everyone had a confusing expression on their faces except Isaac. He had turned his back to us and focussed entirely on calming Luna down.
