Chapter 36: The Uchiha Prodigy [Shippuden]

Start from the beginning

"Here comes another virtuous man"

"This one is more than virtuous, according to our bingo book his head's worth 30 million" Kakuzu replied.

"Hey we're not doing this just for the bounty are we? Killing a monk for worldly gain is a one way ticket to damnation" Hidan warned.

"Well you know what they say, money talks wherever you go" Kakuzu replied simply.

"I don't know what your business is here but turn around and keep moving" Chiriku started.

"You won't kill us without a cause? Well that's not one of my beliefs" Hidan said as he pulled his scythe from his back.

"They say this is the most famous temple in the Land of Fire and that its monks hold a special power known as the gift of the sages. Especially this one, better take care Hidan or you'll die" Kakuzu explained.

"Not that again, shut up Kakuzu move it!" I lingered back activating my Sharingan as the others ran forward. Chiriku moved into a stance I didn't recognize. I had to think back on the stolen scrolls in Orochimaru's library and it wasn't until I focused on the light behind him that I realized the technique. One Orochimaru had tried and failed to recreate; Welcoming Approach: Thousand-Armed Murder. Chiriku didn't even have to move as the jutsu took care of Hidan and Kakuzu throwing them back with surprising ease. This jutsu was powerful and unfortunately couldn't be mimicked.

"Great" I muttered. If the two idiots weren't here I could subdue him. Make it look like he's dead and use a copy jutsu to fake a body. They would know if I held back and if I didn't help there was a high chance Hidan would use that vile of my blood. I released a slow breath clearing my mind. It was like Suki all over again. There was no trick or genjutsu to get me out of this one.  I had to do what do what I was trained to do and that was being an assassin of the Akatsuki.

Hidan

I was pissed. No, I was beyond pissed. This guy's jutsu had taken me off guard. I knew Kakuzu was only in it for the money but now I was definitely going to go through with the ritual. Taking this guy's life would surely gain me favour with Jashin. I sat up and was about to pull back my scythe until I felt an unfamiliar weight added.

"What the..." I turned and met Rin. She had a foot pinning down the top blade of my scythe. Her hand rested on her Katana and she smirked.

"I've got this one"

"No way he's already mine!" I argued. She put more weight on the scythe when I pulled on it and sighed.

"We don't have time to wait around for you again" She hissed.

"I already..."

"I said it's mine" Her eyes flared red and I looked away when the tomes began to spin.

"Whatever" I muttered.

"I want him recognizable" She let out a brief laugh as her signature smirk came to her lips.

"Have a little more faith Kakuzu. You've told me yourself my work is flawless" Kakuzu scoffed as Rin stepped forward.

"I will not die here Princess" Rin let her hand slip from her Katana and I noticed the chakra coming off her hands.

"You've sealed your fate monk, it's Rin." She started hand signs, ones that I recognized from being personally subjected to the same jutsu.

"Dark Abyss Jutsu" The shadows fluctuated, they moved from behind the monks and as Rin stretched out her arms so did the darkness. This wasn't meant for an individual, this was meant for all of them.

"Stay close" She said quietly. I noticed Kakuzu linger closer to Rin as the darkness became thick and suffocating. I reluctantly fell closer to Rin and soon the entire field was encased in the shadows. It was deathly silent until I heard the first piercing scream. That scream was quickly followed by others as Rin started a second set of hand signs. She stepped from us and held her fingers to her lips forming a circle of flame around us.

"Stay in the light or the dark chakra will destroy you" She warned. She pulled her Katana from her belt and before we could say anything she took off. It was eerily silent, I strained to see any sign movement.

"There" Kakuzu motioned and I heard what sounded like a thousand chirping birds. I saw a brief glimpse of Rin as lightning sparked off her blade but it just as quickly disappeared. It seemed like one by one the screaming stopped until it fell silent again. I noticed the darkness beginning to recede, not fully but instead formed into fine needles. It took a while for my eyes to adjust as sunlight poured in. The fire jutsu faded and Rin stood between us and the monk.

"So this one might not be as pretty as my other targets" She said. Many of the monks were dead, their skin still melting off their bones. Rin's target had pieces of clothing and skin missing and much of the temple was decaying as the dark chakra swirled around it.

"Do you want to know why I hate the nickname Princess?" She asked him. Even as he stood his ground I could see his body shaking.

"Because it was given to me at a time where all that was expected of me was to be an obedient and useless child, one that couldn't possibly possess the great power that her clan has achieved" She explained as she walked closer. The black needles following her as she moved.

"Do I look like someone who hasn't achieved great power?" She demanded and he shook his head.

"Then does Princess fit who I am?" She asked and he shook his head again.

"Monster is more like it" Rin smirked.

"That's not very nice" I noticed her stumble and the needles flickered. She released a slow breath and gripped her Katana tighter.

"We're going to have to cut this short" The needles seemed to melt away and for a moment I was confused. The monk dropped to his knees and Rin was gone one second then behind the monk in another. The tomes in her eyes were spinning and I realized she had him under a genjutsu.

"Looks like you do die here" She slammed her Katana straight through his back and out his chest. She gave it a firm twist and I could see the light leave is his eyes. She drew her Katana back and wiped the blood on the monk's robe before sliding back into her belt. She let her Sharingan fade before looking up at us.

"Less than 30 minutes I'd say" I rolled my eyes.

"Let's just go" I replied.

"Once of you need to get the body." She said.

"Why can't you carry it?" I asked.

"Because my legs are about to give out, that jutsu is quick but dark chakra takes a lot of energy"

"At least I'm able to walk after my jutsu" I replied annoyed.

"Just get over here and pick me up!" I sighed as I strapped my scythe to my back and walked over.

"How is this going to work with your scythe on your back?" I smirked slightly before throwing over one shoulder.

"You've got to be kidding me! Hidan I swear..."

"Just shut up or I'll start dragging you instead" I warned earning a groan of frustration.

"You better sleep with one eye open"
