Chapter 16

"What makes you think you're going to hurt me?" Steve asks and I look into his eyes "I'm not good at this Steve" I say with a shrug "we're just fooling around right? It's what you wanted it to be like isn't it?" Steve says and I stare into his eyes for a few seconds "don't try get into my head Penelope that's not part of whatever we are" Steve says looking away

"I'm sorry" I say looking down "but you're right it's what I wanted" I say, it was what I wanted but maybe it's not anymore "then let's stop arguing" Steve saying finally looking at me again and pulling me onto his lap "I'll agree to that" I say kissing him slowly

The next morning

"What are you doing back here?" I ask opening the front door to reveal Sharon "Steve broke up with me yesterday" Sharon says "and I know you had something to do with it" Sharon says and I take a bite out of my apple "why would you think that?" I ask unbothered "because you hated us together from the start" she says and I shrug "actually I hate you for longer than you have been with Steve and I'll tell you what Sharon, Steve doesn't belong to a bitch like you" I say closing the door

"Who was that" Steve asks "your ex" I reply walking into the living room and sitting down with my feet on the couch "what did she want?" Steve asked "well she thinks that I had something to do with the breakup" I say with a laugh "and she thinks I hated you two, which was wrong because I hate her and I told her you don't belong with a bitch like her" I say with a shrug

"You're feisty today" Steve says and I smile "I just don't like her" I say "like who?" Bucky asks walking and sitting next to me instantly laying down with his head on my lap before stealing my apple "that's my Apple" I complain "my Apple. Who don't you like?"Bucky asks, I look up at Steve who looks annoyed "Sharon" I say "oh her" Bucky says glancing over at Steve "you okay Steve?" Bucky asks

"Yeah" Steve replies finally softening up "did I steal your best friend Steve?" I joke "it appears you have" Steve jokes back finally joining us on the couch "I really don't know why I was ever jealous of them" Steve thinks "I don't either" I reply in his mind

"So what's our plan for today?" Bucky asks and I shrug "Peters in school, Nat is still on that mission. My dad is stuck in that lab with Bruce" I say "We should go to the pool" I suggest "if you really wanna see me half naked all you have to do is ask" Bucky jokes and I look at him disgusted "Ew no that's almost incest" I say pushing him off of my lap and onto the floor making us all laugh

"Meet by the pool in half an hour?" I ask and they agree. I change into my bikini and throw an oversized top over it before heading to the pool, nobody arrived yet so I take my shirt off and jump in "get a bucket, you're drooling all over the place" I hear Bucky say "I'm not drooling" Steve replies, I look up and see them both standing by the door shirtless

"So are you boys joining me?" I ask as they walk over to the pool and dive in "why do you love water so much?" Steve asks "well I haven't got frozen by it" I joke making them laugh "but water is the one thing that consistent to me. It's calm but deadly" I say crouching down a little so the water is covering me a little over my chest "there's a reason tho isn't there?" Bucky asks

"When I'm underwater everything is silent, everything is calm. When I'm anxious it's the one thing that keeps me calm, I had pretty bad anxiety when my father adopted me. I used to sit out in the rain every time it rained. After every argument I sat in the shower for hours, he realised that water was my safe place so he built me a pool" I say with a smile

"I think that's beautiful" Steve says and I smile "okay I get it you like each other" Bucky says splashing us "did you just?" I ask using my powers to create a wave that completely soaks Bucky "that *cough* was cheating" Bucky says and I shrug "you have a metal arm you're constantly cheating" I say with a shrug

We swim around for a couple of hours before getting out and ready for dinner "where's Rhodes?" I ask my father "and Pepper?" I ask "Rhodes had military business and Pepper is still at work" my dad replies and I nod "so I heard you went to pick Peter up from school" Bruce says and I nod "Yes, I shamed his bully and met his girlfriend" I say "I - she's - No. Mj isn't my girlfriend" Peter says and I stare at him with narrow eyes

"Yet" I reply with a wink. Dinner was calm and fun all of us eating together but in that moment it all fell apart. The room was filled with smoke "dad?" I yell looking around "dad" I scream feeling someone grab me "let me go" I yell trying to use my powers but nothing happens "Penelope" hear my dads voice "Dad help me" I scream before everything goes dark
