the hallways were quiet and not a sound echoed against the school walls. i was walking down the pathways to the nurse's office, feeling lightheaded. with every step, the throbbing against my temples worsened and black dots began to dance before my vision.

the beating of my heart grew louder and louder with each passing second, easily becoming a distorted headache. a numb sensation buzzed at the base of my neck.

i had no choice but to pause beside a nearby trash can, a new surge of my insides shivering. with my hands wrapped tightly on the rim, i threw up into the bin, digestive fluids and chyme spilling into the large container; a terrible aroma of brine fish and decomposed flesh began to arise.

before i could do anything to support myself, everything inside shut down. i blacked out, collapsing onto the cold, dirty floor.

.

my chest was heavy as soon as i woke up; it felt as if a large dog was sleeping on top of me. i sat up with a grunt, examining the room with my eyes. the vicinity was toned of white and tan colors with a few other beds lined up at the far end of the room. glass-front cabinets and closets were filled with first-aid products and materials. i was in the nurse's office.

the clock on the wall symbolized the end of the school day, and the sun that peaked from the window was dipping below nearby buildings from a distance. with nobody in sight, i walked out of the infirmary, hurried along over to my homeroom class to retrieve a few belongings, and left the campus to grab a late lunch.

my clothes stank of a foul smell and i wanted to throw up again. what happened after i passed out? what happened before i awoke? what happened between that interval?

i was greeted by a female employee around the same age as me as soon as i entered into a nearby convenience store. i ordered a sandwich, paid for it, and left for home. the night comes by quickly and just like that, my entire day ends with another soft slumber.
