A/N: this is my first ever novel, also on this topic. And in English which isn't my first language.
So please be nice as I may get some details or lore wrong. Just doing my best here :-)

Mia
There was nothing like an early morning run through the forest when it was still dark outside. The fresh air always cleared my head and the soft forest floor felt calming underneath my paws. I ran as fast as I could, avoiding trees and fallen branches while the wind blew through my fur.
The river that separated Roseberg from the rest of the vale was my favorite spot to rest before I made my way back.
I stopped by the riverbed on a small peninsula. After a quick glance to make sure no one was around, I shifted into my human form and walked to the edge and stepped over some rocks to reach the water. I dipped my toes in. It felt cool, but not too cold.
The moon was almost full, and I could sense the magic that was getting ready to be unleashed in a few days’ time.
I took a deep breath, bent my knees, and launched myself into the air. My fingertips were the first to touch the cool water, the rest of me followed thereafter. I dove deep, all the way to the bottom in the middle of the lake until my fingers touched the muddy clay sediment.
When I emerged, the cold air against my warm face sent a shiver down my back. I let my head fall backwards and floated on my back, watching the night sky. My dark hair floated on the surface like a halo around my head. It was a clear night. Uncountable stars looked down upon me, but were to vanish soon as the morning sun was close to rising.
I swam to the edge of the lake and stepped out of the water. It was a bit chilly, the soft breeze on my wet skin gave me goosebumps.
I quickly shifted back into my wolf, as it didn’t experience cold like a human did. It was always slightly painful to shift back. As my bones cracked and shifted, my claws and canines emerged.
Once the transition was completed, I sprinted back home and saw the first sunrays light up Roseberg Castle’s rooftops.
A place I had come to feel comfortable in and that I loved deeply. As the sun was slowly rising, I knew I had to hurry, as the queen of Roseberg would be awake soon.
I quickly entered father’s small home and shifted back when I was in my old bedroom. I put on my uniform, quickly checked my phone for any new messages. Zero, of course. And I walked downstairs.
“Good morning Mia,” My father told me as I walked into the kitchen. “Good morning daddy.” I walked over to my father and kissed his cheek.
He had cooked us breakfast. The savory smell of bacon entered my nose, making my mouth water.
My father had been very lonely after my mother passed away 3 years ago, so I stopped by at his house almost every day after my morning stroll, he always cooked me breakfast. He didn’t have to, of course, but he wanted to take care of me.
My father was the best cook in Roseberg, the city we lived in. It was no coincidence that he was the chef in Roseburg Castle, serving nothing less than the best to the royal family. My family had always worked as servants in the castle. My mother was a handmaiden, and now, so was I.
My father’s father, and his father before that, all served the royal family.
After breakfast I thanked him for the food and gave him a hug. It was getting late, and there’d be hell if I was not there by the time the queen awoke.
