Chapter Twenty-Two

"We're going." Jesse spoke, shaking his head turning around. Jamie walked hesitantly with him staring at Aurora. "You two save him, I'll make sure Ellie doesn't get herself killed." Aurora spoke softly, finally making eye contact with Jesse who had a disapproving stare. "I really hope you guys make it." Then with that Jamie and Jesse left their sights with Aurora being pulled in two different directions. Ellie looked back to her, seeing the unsureness in her eyes. "Go with them." Aurora looked up shaking her head. "No way. They'll get Tommy, I trust them. Someone has to make sure you don't do anything stupid." Aurora tried smiling but it came out more of a forced smile than anything. She turned back around crouching down to a whole in the ground. "Clear." Aurora hopped in falling into the water coming up just as fast moving so Ellie could jump in.

"Got the engine back up. Where should I put in?" "Park in on the other side." "Copy." They both dived under swimming into the open area turning to a store that had been fully submerged in water swimming past mannequins that had algae grown on them. They broke the surface again into a different store that would be the second floor. A soldier walked in just as they were climbing up onto the floor. Aurora ducked behind an old shelf covering from the wolf's eyes. A light in the corner of the room helping her see. Ellie could be heard messing with something behind Aurora, when she turned around she had something over the tip of the gun. "Silencer." Ellie whispered standing up aiming the gun at the man. Boom. She went down with little noise attracting no one's attention.

Then someone else walked in, Ellie handed her one of the rag and duct tape silencers letting Aurora tape it onto her gun. Aurora aimed, then shot killing him, a bullet going right through his head. "Nathan?" A woman's voice came out. "Come on Nate where'd you go?" A man entered the doorway with her looking down at the guy's body. Both Ellie and Aurora peaked over aiming their guns at their heads then shot, killing both wolves. "Nice job. That's four down." They ran out from behind the shelf going to the doorway which was mostly broken down looking more like a whole in the wall. On the other side were old escalators two wolves coming down very carefully.

"Where did those assholes go?" "Dunno, Nate? Ronnie?" No response. Aurora nodded to Ellie both turning the corner shooting a wolf, one body falling over into the water, the other tripping down the stairs. They walked up the escalator to an open area, a bridge just around the corner. One wolf walking their way and the other going to the other side. They stayed behind the large crate waiting for the wolf to reach them. Just as she came around the crate Aurora pulled her down allowing Ellie to stab her in the neck then Aurora dropped her body looking at the bride. "C'mon." Ellie ran out to the bridge, Aurora followed ducking behind another crate. A wolf turned around walking back across the bridge right towards them.

She turned around for just a moment giving Ellie time to grab out her bow shooting her. "What?" Someone else said. Ellie ran forward but Aurora stayed on the bridge watching her. Ellie shot down another guy with her bow, then another. Three down in less than two minutes. Aurora raised her eyebrows, clearly impressed with how fast Ellie went about it. Aurora ducked across the bridge to an old store Ellie had run inside hiding next to her. "Brooke?" A man climbed through a hole in the ground coming straight towards them. Aurora pulled out her knife and waited until he came around, she stood up stabbing him twice before dropping his body and crouching back down.

"C'mon babe." Ellie ran around to the outside of the store, overlooking the entire main area of the mall. There was the boat, in plain sight ready. Two wolves were walking up an escalator, away from Ellie and Aurora. "Jump." The two jumped down a floor into the water resurfacing as quickly as possible swimming to the boat. They climbed inside, Aurora settling on the floor keeping her gun up looking around frantically. Ellie began pulling at the engine with Aurora staying down shooting at the wolves that began to shoot at them. "They're taking the boat!" "Get them!" "Shoot the girl!" Ellie floored it out of the mall into a dark tunnel pulling her hood up. Aurora then pulled her hood up, sitting up a bit against the side of the boat.
