Chapter 18 - Double Date

"Actually..." You take a breath. "I know it's not my place to ask, and I would understand if you don't want me to, but... do you think I could see Kyouji Shinkawa?"

"Shinkawa? What for?"

"I was just thinking that I'd like to meet him. Have you... told him about us?" Shino shakes her head. "Then would you mind if we went to tell him together?"

"Sure. I have no problems. He's in a mental institute not far from Setagaya City. About a thirty-minute drive. I'll call a taxi."

It doesn't take long to reach the building where Kyouji was. You follow Shino down a long hallway, reaching a reception desk. 

"Ah, Shino!" The woman behind the desk said. "I take it your here to see Mr. Shinkawa again?" Shino nods. "And is this one here with you?"

"Yes, he is."

"I haven't seen you before... Ah, I've got it. You two are together and are visiting Kyouji to tell him?" Both of your faces heat up.

"H-how did-" You get cut off by the receptionist.

"I take it I hit the nail on the head? I'm just messing with you kids. Go on, now." Both you and Shino leave the desk and the woman behind it with bright red faces.

You follow Shino through the vast halls of the large building and end up outside a small room. 

"Ready?" Shino asks. You give a small nod. She takes a deep breath, then pulls the handle.

"Hey, Shino." You hear a voice through the door. Shino fully opens the door then steps through.

"Hey, Shinkawa. How'd you know it was me?"

"My parents only visit me on Sunday and your the only other person that sees me." You see a smaller boy get up from his sitting position on his bed. He was roughly the same size as Shino, only a tiny bit taller. He had light-brown colored hair sitting on top of a face that looked like it belonged to a middle schooler. He wore a basic grey jumpsuit that looked a bit similar to ones from prison.

"So, who's this?" He asks.

"My name's Y/N L/N." You respond.

"Y/N... Shino's mentioned you before. So, what are you doing here?"

"Well..." Shino begins. "He and I are kind of... in a relationship." 

Kyouji turns to face you. He began leaning in closer. His mouth was right next to your ear. "Why..." He says in a low voice. "Why are you scared?" He then takes his face away from yours immediately. "Do you think I'm gonna say something like 'Shino's my girl, bub'? Calm down. It was just a little joke. It's really boring here. I think the only thing making me insane now is the lack of things to do." He chuckles a bit. "Sorry for giving you a fright."

"N-no problem."

"You can calm down, now." He says to you. "To be honest, I knew it would happen eventually."

"What do you mean?" Shino asks.

"You two being together. You see, Shino always spoke about you whenever she came to visit her." You look at Shino. She was blushing profusely. "Apparently you saved her from some thugs whenever you first met her?" He chuckles then pats you on the shoulder. "Nice job. You've done more for Shino in one day than I have in my entire time knowing her." It was now your turn to blush.

"Quick question," Kyouji starts. "Why did you come to me to say this? What, am I like your parent or something? Do you need my consent?"

"Not really. I just wanted to meet you."
