Your POV

The city is so much bigger than the countryside. It’s been too long since I lived here, sure I lived in a big city in Malaysia when I was a child.

But since moving to the countryside in England, I’ve gotten so used to being surrounded by large expanses of green fields.

It’s definitely a culture shock coming to Australia and instead of having acres of land and space, constantly have people around you and skyscrapers so high almost piercing through the clouds.

I’ve only been here a few hours but I already love it. Something about Australia reminds me of something… I just can’t quite put my finger on it…

It’s weird but I feel like I’ve been here before.

What am I saying? Of course I’ve never been here before! I follow along with the bustling crowd, down the streets, lugging my bags along with me.

I feel exhausted from my flight, I just need to go home and rest before my job interview tomorrow.

I pull over to the side and get out my phone looking for the instructions to the hotel. My eyelids are so heavy I feel like I could just fall asleep right here right now.

I step out again and turn down a quieter side street yet a large force barges right into me. I yelp, due to my heavy bags and my clumsy two left feet I stumble down to the floor.

“Oh no! I’m so sorry!” Somebody says without a hint of Australian accent in his voice as he runs back and picks up my bags I dropped off the floor. He bows as he asks, “I’m really sorry, are you okay?”

I look up and we make eye contact. A spark ignites inside me. I can’t locate it but the longer I stare the brighter it burns and I can’t stop staring.

He’s handsome. Like really handsome. Only 3 hours spent in Australia and already I’ve made a fool of myself in front of one handsome guy. Great.

Dark brown, eyes, with long, beautiful, ebony eyelashes. His hair is wind-swept but still looks stylishly good. And his skin is so smooth and looks like smooth caramel. But I feel like I’ve seen him before… I know him…

“Miss/Mr? Are you alright?” He asks, outstretching his hand to help me up.

I blush, tuck my hair back out of my face and behind my ear, “yes, sorry I should’ve been looking where I was going.” I stammer nervously.

God, y/n get a grip. Although the way he looks at me is… intense. Who is he?

“Can I help you up? Or would you prefer to just sit on the ground?” He asks with a little chuckle. God he looks even more beautiful when he smiles.

I laugh nervously too, “thank you,” I say as I take his hand. As soon as our skin makes contact I gasp.

An electric shockwave runs through my fingertips and throughout my entire body. My mind rushes through a blurred tunnel and arrives at a calm scene.

I’m looking out at the sea. The stars glittering off the reflection of the soft waves bubbling against the rock.

The sea expands as far as I can see, seemingly to the end of the world. I look down hearing some rocks, fall down and splash in the water at the bottom. I’m standing on a cliff.

I look up and he’s there. Standing beside me. The handsome man. The same dark brown eyes, long, ebony eyelashes, wind-swept hair and caramel skin.

He is smiling but his eyes tell a different story. He reaches out his hand and holds mine…

I’m transported back. My heart is pounding and I’m terrified. I can feel the adrenaline being transported through my entire bloodstream. My head is filled with one thought: run.

I scramble to my feet by myself, “sorry, sorry! Thank you!” I take my bags from him, careful to not touch him again and turn in the opposite direction, sprinting away. Away from him. Away from whatever that was.

I arrive at the hotel, check into my room and sit on my bed whilst being in a dazed like state. My heart is still hammering in my chest as the fear inside me doesn’t die down quickly.

My mind is too caught up on what just happened… what was that?
