-"Why?"
-"I know what you're thinking, and no, I'm not planning anything. John called me and said he needs you to heal Seraphina. No, I don't know why, something happened."
-"What?! But Seraphina is--"
-"I know, Elaine! Let's go! John called 3 minutes ago, so he's probably going to be in a pissy mood when we get there."

John POV
It's been too long. Past 10 hours dee minutes already. I'm going to have to call Doc, I don't care if he's mad at this point. I grab my phone, but as I do, my doorbell rings, and I open the door to find Arlo and Elaine.
-"What took you two so long?! And why didn't you answer your phone when I called?!" I basically yell, seething with anger. Arlo says nothing, so Elaine speaks up.
-"We're sorry! I didn't know you called!" I sigh. I try to calm down, with little success. I close the door and head back to Sera. Elaine followed, but Arlo stayed a bit aloof.
-"Just... go see what you can do with Sera... I'll explain everything while you're healing." I said the second part as a response to her opening her mouth to talk, presumably to unload a barrage of questions at me.
-"Okay." Elaine goes to check on Sera, and Arlo finally speaks.
-"What happened?" His expression wasn't with worry towards Sera, but more unsettled that someone could injure her. I turn so that both Elaine and Arlo could hear me more easily.
-"I went out for a drink with Sera, since today is her last day of suspension, and on our way back, I noticed a woman that had been following us for some time. She approaches us, and asks about the time. As Sera pulls out her phone to read the time, a flashing white light appears, causing Sera to drop her phone, cracking it. She tells the lady the time, but at this point, her enthusiasm and worry seems over dramatic. As we walk back to my apartment, I notice that my ability, specifically my passive, seemed to be weaker, not having as large of a radius as it usually does. Additionally, Sera's aura seemed weaker. Much weaker, like a higher level mid-tier." Elaine responds to that fact.
-"What? How could something make an ability weaker? That doesn't make any sense!" Arlo turns to Elaine, and back to me.
-"What she said." I give an exasperated response.
-"I don't know either! But the fact remains, whether it was some person's ability, or a device of some sort, we were weaker. I started to ask Sera about it, when a white van, presumably teamed up with said woman, came rushing at us. Sera didn't notice it, so I went to push her out if the way. Instead of activating some other speed ability, I used Sera's, but because of how weak it was, I tried amplifying it even more than usual in a panic. I was successful, but my body wasn't prepared for that, and as a result, it gave me massive recoil damage. The people in the van got out, surrounding the front of us, asking us if we were alright and apologizing. I sensed some high tier behind Sera appear. I don't know if he can teleport, or if he can become invisible, but he appeared out of nowhere. I almost sensed him to late, and fought him off with Isen and Blyke's ability. All it did was make my recoil damage worse, but I had injured the person enough that he or she retreated, disappearing once again. Our troubles weren't over. While Sera was distracted with my little fight and me collapsing back to the ground, one of the van's passengers snuck up on her and stabbed her in the side with a knife. She beat all of them, but wasn't able to rewind her injury. She used the last of her strength to bring us here. She collapsed, I called you, and bandaged her up for the time being."
-"So you're saying," Arlo began, "a group of mid-tiers and a high tier was almost able to kill you both, due to some power dampener?"
-"Yeah, and the weird thing is, it only seemed to affect Sera and me, not any of the others seemed affected. What's more, we could have died if the one high tier was able to inject whatever he was holding." I take out the syringe I was able to take.
