-"Yes!"

-"I trust you can take care of yourself for a day here?"

-"Yesss, John, don't worry about me."

-"I'm gonna run some errands with Arlo after school, so keep that in mind." With Arlo?!

-"With Arlo?!" Oh, I said that out loud.

-"Yeah, he's been friendly with me ever since he reported you to the Headmaster."

-"So he was the one who reported me. I assumed so." Arlo being friendly? To a cripple John? Something isn't right here. I've known Arlo long enough to know he's planning something. I can't be too sure though, so I won't assume anything yet.

"Have fun!"

-"Thanks! I don't even know what he needs to do, so that'll be a surprise." He gets his bag from his room and head towards the door.

"Oh, by the way, you probably already know this, but my apartment is pretty old, so there's a landline phone over by the kitchen. It still works. I'm assuming you remember my number?" I rack my memory. After a bit of searching, I remember it.

-"Of course." A/N: 1. Roll with it. 2. John definitely isn't repeating this for the sole purpose of exposition for the audience, pinky promise.

-"Ok then. I'll call during lunch and after school. I tentatively leave my apartment in your hands, Sera. See ya!"

-"Byeeee." I wave to him as he leaves the apartment, walking towards the school. Hmm, what to do now.

A Few Hours Later

John POV

Phew, almost lunch. One more class, then I'll call Sera. I haven't even been beat up too many times today. Twice before lunch is considered a good day. I round the corner to head towards my final class before lunch, when I notice two students standing against some lockers looking at me intently. A boy and a girl. They start walking towards me. God damn*t, why'd I have to think that? I start to speed up. They notice, and speed up as well.

-"Looks like the cripple was trying to escape us, Ventus!" The girl said.

-"Of course he would, I wouldn't want to stick around others with powers, I might get beat up for being such a weakling!" Oh boy.

===============================

-"Two broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. You've really outdone yourself this time, John."

-"I didn't even start it this time!"

-"You should know how to avoid these situations by now, I don't care if you didn't start it." Doc chastises. I sigh, knowing he was partly correct. Partly. How was I supposed to know they would be there? I remember something.

Wait, I've probably missed a class period at the very least. Sera must be expecting a call. I can't worry her, especially since she just got back. I bring out my phone, but notice something different.

Doc POV

-"Hi Leilah, I enjoyed last night. I'd like to take you out again if you'd like... Saturday? Sure, I'm free then," CRASH, "I'll pick you up." What now?! I turn around and head towards where I had left John. I see him standing over his cracked phone, seething with rage. He starts to head out of my infirmary, so I stop him, grabbing his shoulder.

-"Where do you think you're going?" He shoves my arm away very aggressively; less irritated, more condescendingly. Crap, this can't be happening, he's been fine for so long. I act impulsively.
