John walks out of the school, getting ready to go back to his apartment to get changed for a run. 'Today's gonna be the day I break the 5 minute mile.' John tells himself. He tells himself this everyday, but he never does. 'Doesn't hurt to be optimistic. I'll always, try, though.' While walking back, he winces at even uneven ground as he feels the bruises from the day's beatings. 'My god everyone is pissing me off. Why do I have to deal with this? Right, because I'm playing cripple, like a naïve idiot.' John thinks to himself, trying to calm down. 'Doc's tonics are great, but far from instant acting.' John wonders what Arlo's up to, assuming him to be doing his kingly duties. He chuckles, thinking to himself. Even though he's an annoying prick, he's a friendly annoying prick.

At that moment, a notification pops up on his phone from someone he never thought would contact him at this time.

-"Your apartment. 15 minutes." 'Sera?!' He texts back, hoping for a response. Nothing. 'What happened?!' He starts rushing back to his apartment. About to exit school grounds, he eye a familiar blonde-haired boy waiting for him.

-"Where are you off to in such a hurry?" He asks. The ravenette answers his question with his own.

-"Back to my apartment. What're you doing here waiting for me?"

-"Fair enough. Anyway, I was about to head off to do some errands, and I was asking if you'd like to join me? I tried to ask you earlier at school, but you didn't hear, presumably because of how occupied you were studying for a test?"

-"Yeah... Lang and Comp Test. Oh, and about your errands, I would, but I have to do something back at my apartment, do you mind if I go with you tomorrow?" John asks. Uncharacteristically, he obliges. John keeps trying to rush the conversation.

-"Why not? I'll do some of it today, and the rest of it tomorrow. Meet me after school tomorrow here?" He proposes. 'Huh, he's never this agreeable. Good day for him, huh?' John thinks to himself. 'How 'bout it, the grumpy King can have good days.'

-"Yeah, sure!" John answers hastily, waving to him, rushing off towards the nearest bus stop with a destination near his apartment.

Arlo walks off, clicking his tongue in annoyance. 'D*mn, of course he couldn't come today. Of all days for this idiot to be late. I'll have to call off Meili and Ventus.' Arlo tells himself, pulling out his phone. 'If I take any longer, even this oaf will get suspicious. The more confusing factor here was his urge to leave. Why was he off to his apartment in such a rush? Sera is still suspended, so is it family? I haven't heard much of his family, or really anything about him. I should probably enlist Isen to see if he can get anything on John's family.' The blond states mentally. 'Tomorrow will be the day John learns his place, learns his responsibility, and is punished for his rejection of order.'

==========

The ravenette jumps off of a bus, quickly thanking the driver, and starts sprinting towards his apartment, bag dangling over his right shoulder. He looks at his phone for time, but clicks his tongue as he notices the time. 'D*mn, Arlo delayed me for a little over 5 minutes, and waiting for the bus took an extra 4 minutes or so.' John tries to calculate in his head. 'Maybe it would've been faster if I ran all the way back to my apartment?'

John finally sees his street, and takes the turn basically skidding on the side of his soles and makes it to his apartment panting. Bending down, he doesn't notice a familiar magenta-haired girl, who looked up from her phone and smiled. John looked up at her in surprise, and smiled back.
