-"I followed the two back to an apartment. They have been idle here for 3 hours. Sending coordinates. The boy was able to sense me, and It is uncertain if it had to do with his ability or not."
-"Coordinates received. Return to Base."
-"Copy." The two-way screen fades off as the figure turns it off, standing up and leaving the vicinity, leaving Sera and John in temporary safety.
==========
The Next Morning
A worried Elaine paces around her room, looking at her unread messages to Seraphina. 'She still isn't back from wherever she went off to, and she still hasn't answered any of my texts!'
-"Where is she?" The blue-haired girl says out loud. As if on queue, the door clicks open, and Seraphina enters with a shopping bag with wrinkled clothes in it.
-"And where were you last night? You didn't answer any of my texts!"
-"I was just crashing over at John's place, it's no big deal."
-"No big deal?!" Elaine exclaimed incredulously. "You had me worried sick! I'm beginning to think you should stop hanging out with him! He's been nothing but a bad influence on you! First, you give up your position of queen, becoming the ace, you chop your hair, dye it with highlights,start wearing extensions, and start skipping class!" Instant regret fills Elaine's eyes, because she turns to Elaine, her eyes glowing, and freezes the blue-haired girl up against the wall.
She sighs in relief as she collapses to the ground. Seraphina goes back to her room, so Elaine does the same, not wanting to cause further conflict.
There's got to be a way to get her to stop spending time with him.
==========
After a few hours, Seraphina goes out, saying to her coldly that she'll be right back, most likely going to get some groceries or something. Elaine smiles back at her, attempting to make up for her rash reaction to her spending more time with John.
In order to try to make up with her, Elaine grabbed fresh oranges she had bought, and made some fresh squeezed orange juice. She poured a glass of Orange juice, and placed it on Seraphina's desk, with a small note. On her way out of Seraphina's room though, she notices a book on her bed, a plain cover, with the words unOrdinary as the title, the author's name below it, being W.H.Doe.
Hmm, that title and author sound familiar, I'll search it up.
Heading over back into her room, Elaine logs onto her computer, and opens a browser up, searching "Unordinary by W.H.Doe". After some quick research, Elaine's worst fears have been confirmed. She reaches for her phone and finds a contact quickly.
~~~~~~~~~~
Arlo walks through the halls daily, basically just wasting his time. His phone rings from a call. As he looks at his phone, he sees the contact calling him. 'Elaine? Since when does she call me for anything?' He picks up, listening to an obviously disturbed Elaine.
-"Arlo! I found this book called on Seraphina's bed after putting Orange juice down in her room, and it seems like this could be a big problem! It's known for turning high-tiers and above into vigilantes, and recently, vigilantes have been getting murdered! I'm worried about her, what should I do?!" The blonde just sighs, knowing she's probably overreacting. 'Seraphina wouldn't have gotten that book herself, so someone must have given it to her.' Arlo deduces. Someone would have had to have close contact with Seraphina to sneak it in. 'John! John's the only one who would possibly have that book. It all makes sense. He's the one who's been so confident for being a cripple, and what's more, he rejects the hierarchy and order I've created. He's so ignorant! I should get Isen to research this boy, but for now, Seraphina. It would make sense that he would have given it to her, but I can't be too sure.'
-"Make sure no one hears of this. I don't need rumors of students becoming vigilantes because of this book. Secondly, I'll report it to the front office, so you don't have to worry about it."
-"Sure thing, Arlo!" She answered, pleased with herself. 'Her mood changed... quickly.'
She hung up, and the blonde grumbled in complaint. He walked in the direction of the front office. 'Why does this have to happen now?' He thinks. Suddenly, something hits him, and he stops for a second. 'Wait a minute. John, the supposed school cripple, is confident enough to bump into me and apologize with a simple sorry. He befriends the strongest person in our school, and changed her so that she started to disregard the order and hierarchy I had worked to create. He's hiding something, he has to be.'
==========
Waiting for Sera on the rooftop for lunch, John is just playing a game on his phone, of which Sera introduced. When he sense a large aura activate, he looks up, as Sera zooms up to the roof. He looks at her, her hair all frazzled from rushing up to the roof so unnecessarily fast.
-"You know, you don't have to use your ability to walk up some stairs."
-"Hey, walking up stairs is difficult." She sticks her tongue out. "Anyways, let's play this new game I found! It's called Flappy Pig, I promise you'll like it."
-"And I was just getting the hang of this one. Oh well... now I have to try it." He says with sarcastic enthusiasm. John downloads the game on his phone, only to realize the game is difficult. After many failed attempts, he lazily throws his phone in frustration.
"By the way, did you read the book?"
-"Yeah, I did, and I thought it was a bit absurd, but I'm sure there's something I can't relate to in order to understand it the way you do. I still don't understand why you insist on acting like a cripple. You haven't even shown me how your ability works!"
-"1. Rude. That book makes perfect sense. 2. I'm sure I can enlighten you. 3. My ability being used always remembers me of my past, which I'd like to forget."
-"Fair enough. To all 3." She rolls her eyes with faked contempt, but inevitably forms a smile.
John tries to explain to her how the world they live in would be better with people using powers not for their own self-interest, but for others, but she was pretty adamant about using powers however people want. Luckily though, by the end of it, she seemed to be sort of convinced the authorities didn't really care about low-tiers.
-"Oh, about your book. I don't think I can give it back."
-"Elaine found it?"
-"Well, I can't confir—."
-"Come on Sera! I even warned you and everything! You're so careless! You definitely have "god-tier" recklessness!
-"I know, I know, but if I keep you out of trouble, it'll be fine!" She smiles at the ravenette, as if this was a perfectly fine solution.
-"And what about you, goofball?"
-"Well, they'll go easy on me, I am Wellston's ace, after all. I don't doubt she found it, and if so, probably already notified Arlo and/or the headmaster about it. We'll see."
The bell rings, ands so marks the end of lunch. As the two start to head inside though, the speaker forms some feedback, followed by a voice.
-"Seraphina, please report to the Headmaster's office immediately." She looks at John.
-"Well, wish me luck! Remember, if anyone asks, you weren't the one who gave it to me." Her grin widens, and starts to head down the stairs ahead of me.
-"Don't say anything dumb!" I say to her, right before they go their separate ways.
-"Of course! Stay out of trouble!" She finally turns around, and starts briskly walking towards the Headmaster's office. 'I like our banter.' John thinks to himself, smiling. 'Hopefully she doesn't get into too much trouble. Hopefully word doesn't get out that she had an illegal book. Rumors like that would spread like wildfire.'
