I nodded and he took his hand off of mine. We continued to talk about random things for another half hour, and I was starting to get bored again. He excused himself to go use the washroom and I sighed while still sitting on the bed. Elliot was a great guy and all but he just didn't have a lot of spark. What am I even trying to accomplish by being here? First I just wanted to annoy Anakin since he was being weird, and I was taking a risk by being in here with Elliot because if someone saw us together like this, then it would cause gossip about a Jedi being unprofessional. I considered just going back to my spot in the hallway and forgetting about whatever I was trying to achieve, when my thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the force trying to connect with me. But I instantly recognized the connection and knew who it was.
"Where are you? Why aren't you at your post?"
A slight smirk tugged at my lips. I guess I was gonna continue this after all.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I replied, trying to tick him off some more.
"(y/n) this isn't funny. Come out, now."
I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Fine."
Just as I stood up to leave, Elliot came out of the washroom with a toothbrush in his hand. "Hey, where are you going?"
I walked over to him and stood by the door. "I should actually go now. It's Anakin's turn to guard you."
His expression fell for a moment but then he smiled again, "Well, I enjoyed the time we spent together. It's only been a day but I feel like I've known you forever, you're so easy to talk to." He leaned forward and kissed my cheek, making my eyes widen in surprise.
"Good night." He smiled at me one more time and turned to go back to the washroom. Wanting to get out of here faster, I quickly opened the door and ran down the halls to get to my quarters. I expected to see Anakin lurking in the halls but he was surprisingly nowhere in sight.
I opened the door to my room and quickly spun around to shut it. I leaned my forehead against it and took a deep breath. Did that really just happen? I didn't think Elliot would do that. Thinking about him kissing my cheek made me more uncomfortable than I already was after he did it. But I felt bad for basically using him to provoke Anakin, since he was a really nice guy. Hopefully I didn't lead him on the wrong way by deciding to spend time with him like that.
I sighed and turned around, bumping into something tall.
"What the..."
I backed up into the door and saw Anakin, who was glaring at me with his arms crossed. My eyes widened in surprise, I didn't even sense that he was here because I kept thinking about all the weird stuff that's happened tonight. But then I tilted my head and smiled innocently.
"Anakin, to what do I owe this pleasure?" I said in a mock formal tone.
His posture and expression never changed as he continued to tower over me, not saying anything or moving at all. I chewed the inside of my cheek awkwardly and took in the sight of him. Even though Anakin technically looked the same as usual, it all felt different tonight. The way his black robes enhanced the dark aura he possessed, and how his blue eyes perfectly complimented his messy blonde hair, was so compelling. My mind went back to the place that I didn't want it to, the place I've been trying to forget.
"Why did you do the exact opposite of what I told you?"
His question startled me and my cheeks became hot since he most likely was listening to my thoughts. I didn't know what to say this time so I just lamely shrugged and walked past him to my bed. I was starting to get tired, so he could take the rest of the night shift if he was still so insistent on it.
