I have to tell the others! Sokka thought. He froze though when he heard footsteps and suddenly, he felt pain as Pipsqueak yanked him up by his hair.
"Where do you think your going ponytail?" Smellerbee asked, holding a knife to Sokka's throat. They dragged him out kicking and screaming before tossing him to the ground in front of Jet.
"Sokka, glad you decided to join us." Jet said.
"I heard your plan to destroy the Earth Kingdom town." Sokka growled, slowly standing.
"Our plan is to rid the valley of the Fire Nation."
"There are people living there Jet, mothers and fathers and children."
"We can't win without making some sacrifices."
"You lied to Aang and Katara about the forest fire," Sokka said, stepping closer and pointing his finger at Jet's chest.
"Because they don't understand the demands of war, not like you and I do."
"What about Mari? I'm guessing you haven't told her any of this? You haven't have you, because you know she wouldn't approve, Mari would hate this." Sokka said.
"Don't talk about my sister like you know her!" Jet shouted. "Mari will understand and I'm betting, after you, Katara, and Aang leave, that she'll even help me."
"No, no way am I leaving her here with the likes of you. I consider her to my little sister as well and I won't let her live with a monster." Sokka spat. "And now I understand that there's nothing you won't do to get what you want." Jet sighed.
"I was hoping you'd have an open mind about this Sokka, but I can see you've made your choice." Jet said. Sokka made a move to escape, but Pipsqueak and Smellerbee grabbed his arms and Jet hooked his wrist in front of him. "I can't let you warn Katara and Aang, take him for a walk, a long walk."
"You can't do this!"
"Cheer up Sokka, we're gonna win a great victory against the Fire Nation today."
*Mari POV*
When we woke up, Jet took us to the giant reservoir, right outside the forest. There was hardly any water, only a shallow stream running through the center. On the banks were large holes in the ground that periodically expelled hot air. I was a little worried when I woke up and Sokka was gone.
Jet had assured us that he was fine and was on a trip with a few of Jet's men. Still, something didn't seem right to me.
"Jet, I'm sorry for the way Sokka's been acting." Katara said.
"No worries, he already apologized." Jet said. We all stopped dead. Now I knew something was off. If Sokka really believed in something, he wouldn't apologize, ever.
"Sokka apologized?" Aang asked.
"Yeah, I was surprised too, I got the sense that maybe you talked to him." Jet said, turning to face us.
"Yeah, I did." Katara said.
"Well, I guess something you said got through to him." Jet said. "Anyhow, he went out on a scouting mission with Smellerbee and Pipsqueak." We continued our walk.
"Well, I'm glad he cooled off." Katara said. "He's so stubborn sometimes." I jumped back as Aang was blown into the air by one of the air vents. He was sent about fifteen feet in the air and floated back down in the way only Aang could.
