"Are you kidding me, he's just a goofy kid." Sokka said.
"He's right." Aang said, hanging upside down from one of Appa's horns. Point proven.
"Why do boys always think somebody has to be leader?" Katara asked. I shrugged, picking my bag up and hefting it onto my shoulders. The others did the same and we began walking. "I bet you wouldn't be so bossy if you kissed a girl."
"I've kissed a girl!" Sokka exclaimed. "You just haven't met her."
"Who Gran-gran, I've met Gran-gran." Katara said.
"No, besides Gran-gran."
"Uh Sokka, Penguin-seals don't count buddy, sorry." I said, patting his shoulder. He lightly pushed me away.
"Look, my instincts tell me we have a better chance of slipping through on foot, and a leader has to trust his instincts." I fell back in step with Katara and we shared a look.
"Okay, we'll try it your way, oh wise leader." Katara sighed. We walked about half a mile before Aang began to complain.
"Walking stinks! How do people go anywhere without a flying Bison?" He asked.
"They used walking Bison." I said.
"Really?"
"No."
"Then how did they travel?" He asked again.
"Well, I don't know Aang, why don't you ask Sokka's instincts, they seem to know everything." Katara suggested, causing me to bow my head laughing. She'd been particularly sassy since we began walking. I was loving it.
"Ha ha, very funny." Sokka mumbled. He was just as irritated as the rest of us, but I guessed it was for a different reason.
"I'm tired of carrying this pack." Aang complained again.
"You know who you should ask to carry it for you?" Katara asked. "Sokka's instincts!" Somehow I got the feeling they were ganging up on him on purpose.
"That's a great idea! Hey Sokka's instincts, would you mind-"
"Okay okay! I get it, look guys, I'm tired too, but the important thing is we're safe from..the....Fire...Nation." We had walked right into a Fire Nation camp. Perfect.
"Do you ever get tired of being wrong?" I asked, dropping my pack and pulling my bow to the front, knocking an arrow. The men from the camp all turned, glaring at us, some of them still eating.
"RUN!" Sokka shouted and we took off the way we'd come. We were cut off by a fire blast, setting the bushes on fire in front of us. We slowly turned back to face the Firebenders, ready to fight. I pulled my bow string back, feeling the familiar brush of feathers against my cheek as I took aim at a Firebender with an eye patch.
"If you let us pass, we promise not to hurt you." Sokka said. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. There were at least thirty to fifty men surrounding us. Even with the two benders we had, it was a very slim chance we'd make it out of this.
"What are you doing?" Katara asked in a hushed voice.
"Bluffing?" Sokka answered. Eye Patch smirked.
"You? Promise not to hurt us?" He asked. Then, he was falling to the ground, dead. I lowered my arrow in shock.
"Nice work Sokka, how'd you do that?" Aang asked.
