"Move away from her!" I snapped. He was shocked, hands raised in defense as he took a step back.

        "Mari-"

"No, Move away Jet, I don't know you anymore, your not my brother." I said, tears forming in my eyes.

"Mari, please, you of all people have to understand, remember that night! Remember what they did to our parents! To us!" Jet shouted, his voice desperate. I closed my eyes for a moment.

"I know what they did, and I hate them for it I do, but I won't let you destroy an innocent town for revenge Jet!" I shouted, pain lacing every word. I was fighting against my own brother. The brother I had thought for so many years to be dead. Well, he was dead to me now.

"Mari, please." He pleaded, taking a step forward.

"No Jet." I said. Suddenly his demeanour changed and anger colored his face red. He charged me and I loosed my arrow which he deflected. I ducked under his kick and punched upwards, my fist just missing his chin as he leaned back. One of his hooks grabbed my ankle and I was knocked to the ground, Jet hovering over me. I swong my bow at him, but he kicked it away and leaned down close to my face.

"Fine! But let me tell you a little secret Mari, your not my sister, not  by blood! My mother never gave birth to you! You were given to us when you were three!" He hissed.

        "Y-your lying!" I whispered.

"No, a lady from the Fire Nation brought you to our house and my parents took you in, but your nothing but Fire Nation filth!" He stood back up and turned to the others, leaving me on the ground where I sat, in total shock.

I was suddenly numb, staring at the ground. I didn't even notice when Aang and Jet began fighting, nor when Katara dropped down beside me, shaking my shoulder.

"Mari! Snap out of it! Mari!" She said. I looked up at her and she sighed in relief. "Are you okay?" I nodded woodenly. On the outside I was fine, but inside I was breaking down. So, Bumi was right after all. Katara helped me to my feet and I broke away, grabbing my bow and running toward the dam.

Maybe I could stop this. I could knock LongShot's arrow away from the barrels with one good shot, maybe. It was worth a try.

"Your sick and I trusted you!" I heard Katara shout. I looked back to find Jet frozen to a tree. I lowered my arrow, maybe now we were safe. My heart rate picked up however when a whistle like a bird left Jet's lips. It was the signal! I turned back to the dam and pulled back on my bow string, waiting for LongShot's arrow.

There! I aimed and fired. My arrow flew through the air, right toward his and...

missed.

It missed!

"No!" I screamed as the dam blew and water gushed out, right toward the town. I straightened and my hands balled into fists, gripping my bow tightly.

"Jet you monster!" Katara shouted right behind me.

"This was a victory Katara, remember that, the Fire Nation is gone and this valley will be safe." Jet said.  I turned and ran forward ready to attack Jet and rip his throat out, but I was stopped by a pair of strong hands.

"It will be safe, without you." Sokka said, restraining me as I struggled to get to Jet. It was useless, Sokka was too strong and wasn't going to let me go.

        "Sokka!" Katara exclaimed with joy.

"I warned the villagers of your plan, just in time." Sokka said, managing to pull me a step back. "At first, they didn't believe me, the Fire Nation soldier assumed I was a spy, but one man vouched for me, the old man you attacked. He urged them to trust me and we got everyone out in time." Sokka finished.

I met Jet's eyes and strained harder to get out of Sokka's arms. I was finally able to break free and charged, slipping my knife from my boot.

"Mari no!" Sokka shouted, running after me. Suddenly, my foot became frozen to the ground and I was jerked to a stop.

"Let me go Katara!" I shouted, glaring at her, causing her to flinch.

"No, I get that he's a horrible person Mari, but he's your brother and you can't kill him." She tried to reason.

"That monster isn't my brother!" I  said. Sokka walked up to me and got my knife out of my hand before grabbing my arms again and allowing Katara to release me from the ice. He dragged me away, back toward Appa, who was standing near the edge of the cliff.

"Sokka you fool!" Jet snarled. "We could have freed this valley!" Sokka and Aang got me onto Appa's back where I stayed reluctantly, while Katara grabbed my bow from it's fallen place on the ground and climbed in herself.

"Who would be free? Everyone would be dead." Sokka said, sitting on Appa's head and taking the reigns.

        "You traitor!"

"No Jet, you became the traitor when you stopped protecting innocent people."

"Katara, please." Jet pleaded. Katara closed her eyes tightly.

        "Goodbye Jet." She snapped.

"Mari, I-I'm sorry." Jet called as Appa turned around to fly off.

"Don't you ever talk to her again." Sokka snapped and we flew off. I curled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, staring at nothing. The others, sensing I needed time, left me alone.

I stayed silent as we flew into the night, refusing to eat or talk. After we landed for the night and Sokka and Aang were asleep, Katara came over to me.

"Hey." She said softly, sitting down beside me.

"Hey." I replied.

"You wanna talk?" I shook my head. "What did Jet tell you? He he was whispering to you?" She asked.

"Nothing." I couldn't tell them, what would they think if they knew I was from the Fire Nation? I didn't even know what to think. I had to keep it a secret until I could talk to Bumi again, he seemed to know a lot about me that I clearly didn't.

Well, that was a little emotional, I kind of feel bad for putting my character through that. :(

But it was needed and how about jet? He's a real (Appa roaring) isn't he?
