These memories never made sense still to this day. Faces I could never make out, places, feelings. Even though I had 24/7 in this godforsaken bunker I could never prove together the boy and the snippets of my distant memories.
They didn't make sense considering my life before the apocalypse either, being A hairstylist with gallant and caught up in my ravish lifestyle it just didn't seem right. I knew I'd moved out to California from my orphanage when I was 20 and since then devoted my life to serving people like coco, but before then it seems like an empty void.
I'd always have glimpses almost like I could see the future or past visions, they only started happening in all this time I had during the apocalypse.
Thankfully I'd been whisked along with gallant surfing in outpost 3.
It had been months I couldn't tell you how many.
The sound of venebales almost haunted me in my sleep by now, and before I could drain out cocos voice and gallants but even they were beginning to drain me.
But since the breach last night everyone had been in angst, I felt a glimmer of hope maybe some good news?
I listened to Dinah and Evie blabber on the couches as we awaited some sort of announcement from venebale or our visitors.
Eventually our heads snapped when miss venebale eventually stepped out from the shadows.
The talking grew quite and everyone's attention was on her. The loud ominous footsteps approaching approached from the hallway a daunting fall figure begin to emerge.
I began to make out his features, his bouncing golden locks among his shoulders and his perfectly structured cheeks, but most of all his icy blue eyes shadowed by red.
The dimly lit fire around us only illuminated his shattering features.
His aura had an unsettling feeling which wrapped around all of us like a blanket.
For some reason his eyes fell amongst mine automatically, It felt harder to breathe than it already was in this corset.
"My name is langdon and I represent the cooperative."
Langdon...
"I won't sugarcoat the situation...
As he continued to speak I felt deafened by his presence like I could barely keep myself upright.
It was astounding my blood began to run cold as ice, like my veins were freezing over. My whole body turned into winter. A buzzing began to hum in my ears but if only grew louder until I couldn't bare it.
I felt my head roll back onto the couch staring at the ceiling until my vision disappeared.
******
I awoke back in my room. The warmth had still not returned to my body and all that came to mind was that face, langdon.
A knocking on the door sounded and Mallory let herself in.
"Hey aprha, are you okay? I know that was intense." She says sitting on the bed adjusting her hair.
"What?"
"The whole you know sanctuary? We're basically gonna die unless langdon chooses us to go with him there."
I sat up in my bed. "Jesus."
"Have you had yours?"I asked.
"No not yet gallant has. I was actually asked to fetch you for yours if you were up for it, but he gives me the creeps there's something off about him. Although he was kind enough to tend to you when you uh... passed out."
I felt shivers down my spine just at the thought alone of him touching me.
"I'm supposed to go now?" I look up to Mallory who only nodded. Ugh okay.
"I'll help you don't worry." She held out her hand as I rolls my eyes and smile at her.
I take her hand but she instantly gasps "Jesus aphra your hands are freezing." She mutters as shells me stand.
Once I'm finally dressed I brush my dress off exhaling deep.
"Ready?"Mallory asks I nod hesitantly before we make my way out.
She points me in the directions of which was now langdons office.
I inhaled sharply before knocking on the door.
"Come in." I heard a smooth voice call out.
I slide the door open a little walking in sheepishly closing it behind me.
"Mr langdon."
"Aphra, have a seat." He gestures to the vacant seat opposite him which I gladly take.
He never took his piercing eyes off of me, it was making me feel uneasy to say the least.
"Feeling better?" He asks resting his chin amongst his hand and tilting his head to the side.
I shifted in my seat a little "um yes. Cold." I stifled a laugh.
He hummed as he sat back in his chair.
"So how does this work?" I ask Breakig the silence he seemed to comfortable being quite and staring at me.
"I'm going to ask some questions, if you hitch I will know if you lie I will know and If you try and trick me I will know is that clear?"
"Yes"
"Tell me about your life before here."
"Well it's pretty unsatisfying, I was stylist along with gallant. Umm I don't know my parents I grew up in an orphanage and uhh I guess Thats when I moved to California."
"You guess?" He day foward in his chair leaning in resting his hands on his desk.
"Well it's a blur a void I can't seem to piece together."
He seemed amused his lips tinting a smile which only confused me.
"And what is your sexual orientation?"
I was pretty shocked by his question I guess it was imperative for repopulating.
"I uh- never... I don't know straight?."
"Are you conflicted?" He chuckles
"No I've just never had the chance. But um no men I've just never found the right one I suppose."
"I suspect so." He lifts up from his chair as he walks around the desk sitting right by my side looking down at me. I felt my pulse racing as he did so.
He moves his hand towards me as I flinch slightly but his finger settles under my chin. The moment his skin met mine the heat radiated I had to hold back from gasping out loud. He tilted my head upwards.
"So cold... don't you ever wonder about the blur... the whole missing from your life."
He drops his hand intently watching me "Yes I sometimes have these spurs of moments, people just pieces of a puzzle that never seem to fit."
He smiles down at me standing up from the desk.
"Is it over?"
"It's only just began." He states as the doors slide open on their own.
