The door to the Doctor's humble abode swung open with a ear aching creak. The air was chilly and the wooden floorboards were creaking from the Doctor's footsteps.

You quietly followed behind him, clutching your bag and respectfully closing the door behind yourself.

Immediately, your eyes were wondering around the living room. The Doctor's taste seemed rather old fashioned and it gave you a sense of security. The smell, however.. well, it simply smelled like an old person's home.

"I'll show you to your room in just a tick, my dear."

The echoey tint of the Doctor's soothing voice played over and over in your head. You hummed quietly in response and continued to wonder your eyes upon several antiques stacked upon shelves and through glass cases.

"You seem to enjoy old stuff." You spoke quietly beneath your breath.

"Yes, I do."

Your fingers turned pure white as they gripped harshly onto the handles of your bag. You certainly weren't expecting the Doctor to hear your comment, yet he seemed to of taken no offence judging by his tone.

"Now then," he faced you after unpacking his bag onto the coffee table, "you must take these pills at least twice a day. I'll make sure that you do so."

You stared at the simple pills that sat in the palm of his gloved hand.

"Uh, are they chewable? I don't see a glass of water anywhere." You commented in a sarcastic way.

An echoey chuckle sounded from behind his mask.

"Perhaps you're right. Please, hold them whilst I fetch you a cold glass of water."

At this point you were mentally cursing at yourself. You took the pills from his hand and held them as a light frown knitted your eyebrows together.

You watched him fix you a drink of water in a small glass. He sauntered back over to you.

"Let me take your bag and show you to your room."

He held out his hand to take your bag and you slowly placed the strap into his palm. You took the glass of water from him and wasted no time swallowing the pills. You pulled a face afterwards and grumbled in distaste.

The Doctor chuckled again. "Did the pill dissolve itself in your mouth?"

You cleared your throat and downed the rest of the water to rid the aftertaste.

"No, it just tastes like shit." You sighed.

He carried your bag along with him as you followed closely behind.

"Your room is just down here. My room is at the beginning of the hallway and there are two bathrooms each. One is straight ahead of your room and the other is straight ahead of mine. It's good to keep privacy."

You kept your mouth shut as he effortlessly swung open the door to your room finally. He stepped to the side and you walked in to observe your new living space.

Curtains that hung in front of your window were a dark burgundy, your single bed also matched the curtains. A single desk sat simply in the left hand corner with a sturdy wooden chair and a drawer for your clothing sat waiting just next to your bed. Below your feet was a very fluffy, dark purple carpet upon the wooden floorboards.

You scanned the dark wallpaper that was a colour of black and gold patterns.

"It isn't much but I hope it's enough. There's an outlet by your desk if you wish to.. 'charge' your electronics."

Your eyebrow raised as you looked back at the Doctor.

"Forgive me, I am not up to date with these devices."

You smiled slowly and laughed gently at his comment. "Neither are my parents."

You ventured further into the room and stood in the middle, staring up at the dark blue lampshade above your head.

The Doctor placed your bag next to the door and rested his hand onto the brass handle. "I do hope you feel comfortable here."

You gazed at his mask and stepped forwards, handing the empty glass back to him. "Well it's cosy in here, I like it so far."

He held the glass in his gloved hand and smiled beneath the mask.

"Right, I'll leave you to it. If you need me, I'll be in my study. It's at the end of the hallway, the door on the left. Oh, and dinner will be ready in a few hours."

You nodded. "So the room on the same side as my room? Got it."

You both shared a small laugh and he pulled the door shut.

The smile lingered on your face as you went ahead to unpack your stuff.

You started with your clothes, unzipping the large bag and placing your neatly folded clothing into the welcoming drawers.

Thoughts swirled around in your head and you were thinking that this wouldn't be so bad of a stay after all. Already you had started to build up some sort of relationship with the Doctor.. despite the car ride here being completely silent.

With a sigh, you closed the last drawer and pulled out your charger from the bag. You ventured over towards the outlet and plugged it in, flicking the switch and letting your phone charge on the desk for a little while.

You removed your jacket and hung it up onto the hooks nailed into the back of the door.

"I'm tired. This illness really does take a toll on me.. unless it was the pills making me drowsy? I heard some medicine is supposed to do that." You spoke to yourself in a low tone and kicked off your shoes by your bed. You climbed onto the bed and lay on your back.

"I suppose a short nap before dinner wouldn't hurt."

You closed your eyes and exhaled ever to softly, drifting off into a soothing slumber.
