Brooke's pov:

"And now, we would like to let one of our graduates say a few words. The stage is yours, Brooke." our principal said as he stepped away from the mic and made space for me. I smiled at him briefly before stepping forward and facing the big crowd.

I scanned the crowd for a moment, secretly hoping to find my boyfriend somewhere in it but I was unsuccessful. Even though I know and understand that Pierre has other, more important priorities and responsibilities than coming to my college graduation, it still made me sad.

I found the faces of my parents and sister who gave me thumbs up and excited smiles before I looked down, cleared my throat and then looked back up to finally start my speech.

"Hello. My name is Brooke Appler, and I'm here today to graduate from Yale. Wow, that sounds almost unreal." I said and the people in the crowd laughed a little.

"First of all, I want to thank you all for gathering here today to witness and share this special moments with us. It doesn't matter if it's your daughter, brother, father or grandma graduating here today, you have every right to be proud of them. Just like I am proud of every one of us.

Second of all, I'd like to thank all my classmates, professors and just all the school stuff. The last few years have been hard but you all made it a little more bearable." I said and looked over at the rest of my class, smiling thankfully at them.

"I'll never forget this part of my life. I am, and I always will be thankful I got to study and graduate from such an amazing school.

It's been an honour. Once again, thank you all for coming here today. Have a lovely day." I smiled at the people in front of me as I stepped from the mic and went back to stand with my classmates.

All the people clapped before going silent again. We all got our diplomas and then threw our hats in the air like they always do it in movies before we all went separately to talk to our families and friends.

"I'm so proud of you sweetie." said my mum through the happy tears that were streaming down her face and hugged me tighter than ever before.

"Don't cry mum or I will too." I said as I hugged her back. After we pulled away I looked at my dad who was already waiting for me with his arms open. I ran to him and hugged him as well.

"Well done honey. I always knew you could do it." he whispered to me. I mumbled a quiet 'thank you dad' as I pulled away from him.

As soon as I did, my sister almost jumped at me and gave me another giant hug. "Congratulations Brooke! I'm so incredibly proud of you! Now I can say that my sister graduated from Yale, that's so- oh my god." my sister said as she pulled away from the hug. I looked at her confusedly and I saw that she was looking at something behind me so I turned around and when I did, I almost started crying happy tears too.

There, just a few metres in front of me, stood Pierre. He gave me a grin and opened his arms, waiting for me to jump into them. I blinked a few times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating or anything and then ran to him as fast as I could. When I was close enough to him, I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his torso and held onto him as if my life depended on it. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my body, hugging me close to him.

"Hi, ma chérie." Pierre whispered into my hair. I pulled my head away from the crook of his neck to look at him, a few tears now leaving my eyes and flowing down my cheeks.

"Pierre.. how.." I stuttered as I looked him in the eyes.

"Please, did you really think I would miss something as important as your graduation?" he asked, looking at me lovingly. I looked at him before bringing his face closer to mine, finally letting our lips connect. After a while we had to separate for air.

"I'm really proud of you babe." he said while putting me onto the ground. "Aaand I have a surprise for you. Do you think you could close your eyes for me?" Pierre asked and I looked at him, confused. "Please." he added.

I nodded and closed my eyes and then felt him step away from me, immediately missing the feeling of his arms wrapped around me.

"You can look now." Pierre said after a minute. I opened my eyes and I couldn't believe what I saw. Pierre was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I've ever seen in his hand and a nervous look in his eyes. My hands immediately flew up to my mouth and my eyes started getting watery again.

"Brooke... the last few years that we have been together have truly been the best years of my life. I love absolutely everything about you. I know you are the love of my life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want you to officially be mine forever. So I'm asking you, would you, Brooke Appler, do me the honour and become my wife?" Pierre asked and looked up at me with hopeful eyes. By now a little circle has formed around us, everyone waiting for me to answer Pierre's question.

I didn't trust my voice so I just nodded my head at the boy in front of me. He sighed in relief before reaching for my hand and slipping the beautiful ring on my finger. I then put my hands on each side of his face and pulled him up to give him a passionate kiss. The people around us started to cheer, but everything I could focus on right now was just Pierre. As cheesy as it may sound, it felt like the whole world has disappeared and it was just the two of us.

"Je t'aime, mon amour."

"Je t'aime, Pierre-Luc."
