you sat at one of the big tables in the library, putting your bag down and staring at the entrance. you frantically told your mind to stop racing.

after waiting for about ten minutes, you finally saw kuroo through the clear entrance doors. he was still outside the library, followed by none other than kasumi. you instinctively rolled your eyes. you watched as she rose to her tip toes and threw her arms around kuroo's neck, pulling him into a tight hug.

you looked away, not wanting to watch it anymore, but noticed your eyes flitting back to catch glimpses of their obnoxious pda.

kuroo said something to kasumi. he looked bored. kasumi pouted, but then nodded, and finally, finally, she left kuroo alone in front of the library entrance.

he opened the door and walked into the library, his backpack slung on one shoulder. you almost called out to him but refrained. kuroo finally saw you and the two of you locked eyes. he made a slight motion with his head, gesturing towards one of the private study rooms. you nodded at him, and he disappeared inside the room.

after waiting about a minute, you got up. no one was looking at you, which was a good thing, because you didn't want to be associated with kuroo. you quickly made your way over to the private study room unnoticed, and slipped inside, closing the door behind you.

"hey," kuroo said, waving at you slightly with a smirk. the study room was furnished with only a small table and two chairs across from each other.

"hey," you replied, sitting in the empty chair across from kuroo.

"i'm surprised you actually came," he said, leaning back in his chair.

you raised an eyebrow. "i'm surprised you came."

kuroo sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "i kind of have to. if don't get my grade up they might stop me from playing volleyball."

you nodded. you knew how much kuroo cared for volleyball. it was obvious in his rigorous practice schedule and overwhelming commitment. he wasn't going to let it be taken from him.

as you watched kuroo open his backpack and take out a textbook and a workbook, a question arose to your mind.

"are you keeping this a secret?" you spoke hesitantly. kuroo looked up at you. "the way you walked in here made it kind of seem that way."

kuroo shrugged. "it's not really anyone's business." he couldn't help himself from leaning forward towards you with a confident smile. "why? you don't want to be seen with me?"

you didn't answer, and decided to change the topic.

"why do you need tutoring? aren't you supposed to be smart? i heard you have good grades."

"i am smart," kuroo said almost defensively. "just not at english," he looked almost embarrassed. it surprised you.

"oh." you pulled out your computer, hoping to get a head start on those flyers kasumi had assigned you.

"aren't you gonna help me?" kuroo asked with a smirk. "that's what this is for."

"well, do you have a question?" the way you spoke was emotionless.

"yeah. i don't know the answers to any of it." he pointed at a page in his workbook and looked up at you with his bottom lip in his teeth. it made you wonder if he was taking this seriously, but you remembered that he needed this. he wouldn't give up volleyball.

"none of it?" you asked, leaning forward to get a better look. you were trying to be polite.

kuroo shook his head, and you could have sworn saw a trace of embarrassment on his face. he quickly covered it up. you hummed, looking over the worksheet. it was simple translations of sentences.
