"This better work." I muttered to myself. I looked at my watch for the billionth time in the past half hour. It was only 6:54 but I couldn't chase away the worries of rejection. Hearing the ring of the opening door, I quickly turned in hopes, but was disappointed as a young couple sauntered in. Damn it...I was starting to lose all hope that my attempts had been wasted when I heard her heavenly voice.
"Brandon? So it was you..." I turned and looked up at her. The dress I bought her was perfect, making her beautiful eyes stand out.
"You came." I breathed out. Without taking my eyes away from her, I quickly got to my feet. I moved to the other side of the table and pulled her chair back. "Please, sit."
"So you're The One." Her voice quavered. The brunette sat down without once acknowledging me. I sat across from her and let her ponder into her own mind.
"I thought you figured that out from the first time we were here." I smiled, earning an eye roll from her.
"You are ridiculous, you know that?" She huffed. There's my Kristen.
"You wouldn't be dating me if I wasn't." I admitted, rubbing the nape of my neck. Once she heard that, Kristen sat straight up.
"Dating? I'm sorry, but I distinctly remember breaking up with you." She said sternly. The furrow on her brow didn't once make me change how I viewed her as the beautiful woman I know.
"Yeah well I really didn't want to. You never even told me why." My voice didn't pass a whisper.
"You know why." She said blantly.
"No, I don't." I shook my head and turned away from her. From the corner of my eye, I witnessed her soften. She was giving me that entrance to her heart and there was no way I was going to pass the opportunity by. "I didn't wanted anything to happen between the two of us."
"What?" She whispered. The door opened wider...
"I really like you Kristen. When we got together, everything in my life actually seemed to be going amazing. I am... I mean, I was so lucky to have you by my side. Not just because you're pretty popular, but because you are fun and beautiful and smart and most importantly, incredibly amazing in your own way." I smiled and took her hand. "You aren't the average teenage girl who only wants to drink Starbucks, gossip, and show off the man she managed to brainwash. You are sincere and you aren't afraid to be weird and you actually care about whoever you're with. And I find that absolutely fantastic."
"Brandon..." She muttered with her mouth hanging wide open. I was in.
"Kristen..." I looked straight into her gorgeous eyes. "I would never have even looked at another woman the same way I do with you, let alone cheat."
"Then why were you at that chicks house? I know that she is way cuter than me but.." She trailed off.
"But she isn't nearly as astonishing as you are in my eyes. Liz is just a friend, I promise. That day, I went over to her house to get advice on how to never lose you." I chuckled. "I guess that didn't work out so well."
"Did she help you with all this too?" She questioned. Thank goodness it worked...
"Only with meeting you here. The surprises were actually all my idea." I grinned. She blushed and quickly tried to hide it. That is so cute. I'll have to make her do that again next time we have a date.
"I'm sorry that I didn't just ask you in the first place... I must seem like such a bitch." She laughed softly.
"I never blamed you for what happened. What's important is that I was finally able to tell you the truth." I stood up and grabbed her hand. "Come on, I have one last surprise for you."
"Where now?" She laughed as I help her up.
"Its a surprise." I wagged my finger at her. The car ride was short and silent, though comfortable. We soon reached the special hill I had decided on earlier. I smiled at the thought of what I was about to do.
"A hill?" Kristen broke the silence.
"Yep." I grinned at her. "Don't worry, it will be great."
"Promise?" She smirked. I could see the excitement on her face.
"Promise." I laid my hand over my chest. I lead her up, careful not to rush her. I heard her gasp once she saw what was waiting. A black blanket was laid down.
We sat next to each other, barely touching the other. We looked up at the night sky, content with our comfortable silence. Once Kristen began to shiver, I took a deep breath and made my first move, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. She scooted in closer to me, causing me to sigh in relief. We continued not saying anything and simply enjoying each others company. It was beginning to get late and I still hadn't done the deed. Damnitdamnitdamnitdamnit!
"Brandon?" Kristen yawned. "I never want to leave this moment."
"I feel the same way." I smiled softly at her. She looked up and shared a smile back. I need to do it now! I thought. I reached my spare hand up and caressed her face, laying it on her cheek. "Was there anything else you wanted?"
"Well, there is one thing..." She bit her lip as she looked at mine. I slowly leaned in and softly pressed our lips together. Hmmm... She tastes like raspberries... Seconds later, I pulled away and looked at the beautiful woman that I was so happy to call mine. "Wow.." She muttered.
"That good?" I asked.
"I wouldn't know..." She blushed.
"What do you mean?" I furrowed my brow.
"Well that was kinda my first." She turned her head away from me. Oh...
I pulled her head back and kissed her once more. "Then it's a good thing I took the time to make it perfect."
