"Hi guys!" I grin, taking a sip from my can of Sprite as my Twitch chat floods with greetings.

Droplets of rain patter at my window-panes, throwing themselves with all their weight at the thin glass. My curtains are closed, muffling the sound and shrouding my bedroom in darkness, which is lit up only by the blue light of my PC screen and a cheap lava lamp that sits atop a pile of my old textbooks from Year 11.

"Ugh, I'm so tired," I continue, one of my legs idly kicking the floor and lazily sending my chair round in half-circles. "Doing nothing all day is just so exhausting. Can someone please donate me some brain cells?"

I sit back in my gaming chair, adjusting my headphones as it spins gently from left to right. "Seriously. I'm really gonna need some of those extra brain cells right now. I don't know about any of you weird Americans and shit, but in England we start school and all that stuff next week. Which means first day of college for me! Woo!" My fist pumps the air weakly, echoing my sarcasm.

My eyes skim through the chat, fixating on the last one. "Nope, I'm still gonna be sticking to my usual streaming schedule as much as possible because it's just so much fun! You guys are amazing! All 1,178 of you watching now, and just generally everyone who's supported me. Seriously. It means a lot. Plus I don't need to actually go into the campus thing every day, so you know what that means? MORE TIME TO DO NOTHING WITH MY LIFE! AMAZING, WOW, I KNOW!" I wave my arms about in jazz hands, a mischievous smile upon my face.

"Meri! Shut up!" my little sister yells from her room next door.

"Sorry!" I shout back, looking nervously at my facecam. "Uhh, ignore her, chat. Let's get onto the main thing for today, which is... MCC PRACTICE!"

"Meri!"

"Oops, sorry! MCC practice," I whisper. "Let's go!"

I grin at my screen, my heart warming for every single viewer that had chosen to watch my stream. It still feels crazy, how much I've grown. I mean, the fact that in about eight months I'd gone from ten to fifteen viewers to around a thousand is ridiculous. Okay, it's still a pretty small number compared to the biggest streamers out there, and it's mostly because of my friendship and content with Niki, but I can still be proud of my progress. And now I've even been invited to join the Minecraft Championships, which is just... wow. I mean, legit famous people are in this. We're gonna be against Dream! And... and Technoblade!

"Who's in my team? Uhh, don't remember," I reply, eyes fixed on the screen. "I don't know any of them. Oh, I know that our queen Niki Nihachu is! But that's mostly because she asked because otherwise I won't actually know anyone there."

I scroll through Discord on my second monitor, looking for VC4. "We are in..." I drag out the word as I scan the page. "The Cyan Creepers. Ooh. Sounds quite snazzy."
