Amelia's POV
"Amelia Wu!" the teacher at the desk called out as I entered the classroom.
"Here!" I shouted and raised my hand, earning the attention of most in the classroom. My backpack on one shoulder, I made my way towards the teacher with an apologetic look.
"First day and already late, huh," she sounded unimpressed. Ah shoot, stupid map. I thought as I signed my name next to the attendance chart at the teacher's podium in the front.
"I'm so sorry, miss, I got lost on the way," I explained as I turned around and sat down in the empty seat left that had my name tag in the corner.
As the teacher continued with the attendance, I couldn't help but look around the classroom. The first thing I noticed was that my seat was in the middle of the entire classroom.
Well that's great...
In the upper left corner sat three people, all in Cafnal High School's uniforms. There were two girls and a boy. They introduced themselves as juniors, here to help us get through some paperwork
Fun fact about my high school, we join in tenth grade and graduate in twelfth grade. So technically I join as a sophomore. I had managed to get into the language advanced class, which focused heavily on English.
Then that's when he caught my eyes. A guy with a clean haircut and blue glasses that sat a few rows away from me. He had brown hair and hazel eyes. He looked to be about five centimeters taller than me and was... a bit bulky and scary looking.
We took turns introducing ourselves. There were a few that caught my eye, like a guy called Oliver Sum, or Sun, or Sung, or Song.
He's apparently from one of the neighboring towns and just moved to Cafnal a few days ago. He had black eyes and hair like me, and was said to be almost ten centimeters taller than me.
The guy I had noticed earlier turned out to be Maven Xu. He had his a name on the back of his hoodie, so I assumed it was his last name.
Something about Maven attracts me. Not necessarily in a romantic way, but just makes me want to know him.
Hmm..., I thought as I played with a pen between other classmates' self introductions, interesting...

It didn't take long for the people to finish introducing themselves, and pretty soon, it was my turn.
"Hello everyone," I waved my hands with a smile. "I am Amelia Wu, you can just call me Lia if you'd like. I was born in London, and lived abroad for four years because of my dad's job,"
Whispers were heard around the room as people listened on.
"Some of my hobbies are writing and baking! It's nice to meet you all," I bowed slightly after and went back to my seat in satisfaction. That went better than I expected!

After everyone introduced ourselves, the teacher, who introduced herself as our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Rose, starting introducing the school.
"Our class is the eleventh class of grade one, or '111'. I look forward to teaching you all. If you have any questions, come to me as well. Let's help each other," Mrs. Rose concluded. Everyone just clapped as she nodded at the three juniors on the side.
"I'm Jake, this is Cameron, and this is Lily," the boy, Jake, said. "We're here to help with the documents that you were told to prepare and to help with the picking of the roles in the class."

The rest of the day flew by and before I knew it, I was on the bus on my way home. I opened Instagram and immediately noticed the oddly way too many notifications I had. It was a class group chat that Mrs. Rose had set up. I joined immediately and followed everyone I could from the list of people.
