Chapter 10: Double Edge

"I dined with a few of my friends and colleagues with me that night. It was getting nearer to closing time for the pub since we only had another hour until closing time. My job promotion was to the senior production team since I worked in finance and then in the HR department. I remembered being upfront about it to my boss and worked on improving and increasing my skills. The rest of the night before being dragged into the involvement of the incident, the night was rather peaceful and relaxing as I chatted away, ate and drank over what happened. I got to meet up with some of my old friends by coincidence that night and asked them over to join me as they were free now. We all paid for the rounds equally and split the bill, paying for our meal orders as well. My girlfriend was there with me too since it was her birthday too that day so she had a party earlier with her friends and then wanted to join us. It was getting closer to closing time and so I felt that I needed some fresh air. I got out of the pub for my walk, enjoying the fresh air and sights as there were coloured lights in the streets at night. The night sky was filled with stars that night and I went to the park that night, which was Orwell Park. I heard whispers behind me but I ignored it at first. Then, I heard footsteps and the bushes and trees moving suddenly and it suddenly stopped. I ignored it and whistled to my heart's content until again, I heard something, which sounded exactly like my whistling.

"What's going on? This is weird. Is someone there?" I asked someone.

Suddenly, I heard someone fall from a tree. I rushed to help them. They were clothed in all back and had twigs and leaves stuck in their hair with scratches on them. They looked at me weirdly.

"Get off me! I don't need your help!" they lashed out.

"You were about to fall from a high tree! You could have hurt yourself!" I answered.

"So what? I can take care of myself!" they sassed me.

"I helped you out of kindness. Don't I at least deserve a thank you?" I asked them.

"Thank you to you? As if politeness is going to help me!" they mocked me.

"Fine if you're going to be like that." I sassed them back, letting go of them.

"Why did you do that?" they moaned.

"You deserved it for your rudeness!" I fought back.

"What's with the disrespect? I didn't do anything to you!" they asked me defensively.

"Get over it! Don't waste my time with your excuses!" I warned them.

"You're the one making excuses, not me!" they denied it.

"Don't lie to me. I'm not stupid. Don't ruin my day!" I answered them.

"Whatever. As if I care!" they gave attitude.

"If that's how you'll be..."

"You can have your way with me leaving you alone!" I answered them.

"Don't leave me!" they begged me.

"Why should I after the way you spoke to me? You didn't even say sorry so bye, bye!" I explained to them.

"Okay, I'm sorry! I don't want to be on my own!" they answered me.

"Well, I can't since I got somewhere to go!" I answered them.

"Can't it wait? Surely, it's not that urgent?" they asked me.
