Everyone looked at each other and began talking rapidly. "We will be setting up booths and having carnival games and prizes for the upcoming holiday of Halloween. The campus will be opened up to the public, but I do have a warning to give you. There may be hundreds of crazy fan girls, so look out! Your teachers will give you more information in your first period class! Thank you very much!" We all clapped as Tyler opened the cafeteria doors and like a stampede, everyone rushed inside to get their morning food.
I sat down at my usual table with Bethany, Zoe and Marzia. Today, Troye and Joey joined us just like yesterday.
Joey started off a conversation by asking, "Are any of you going to work a booth at the Harvest Carnival?"
Zoe replied, "I might make some handmade bracelets. It's just an idea though."
Bethany added, "Ooh, that sounds cute. You could even take requests for specially made ones, and charge a bit more."
"I might do a carnival game for the kids. I don't know what to do, but it will definitely be a game where kids will keep coming back to play more!"
Zoe smiled at me. "I think that's a wonderful idea."
Joey said, "I'm thinking about doing a slingshot pumpkin type game. Since Halloween is coming up, it's only appropriate to have a candy themed game. What you do is take a marshmallow and try to sling shot it into a pumpkin. If you make it in, you earn candy! If you don't make it in, you still earn candy!
Everyone laughed. We finished eating and headed off to our first class of the day. Mine was Editing with Mr. Harrison, Marzia, Bethany and Felix. I walked into class with Bethany. It felt like everybody was already there, even though the class wasn't even half way full.
"Hi guys," I greeted Felix and Marzia as Beth and I sat down in our usual seats. My seat was next to Felix's and he shifted a little away from me.
"Seriously?" I questioned him.
He didn't say anything.
"Felix, you can't pretend that everything is awkward, alright? Everything between us is completely fine and I don't know why you keep acting like this. I'm sorry for lashing out on you in front of your friends, but at the same time I'm not sorry. It needed to be said. Whatever is up with you, you need to put on a smile and actually be friends with me. Because there is nothing between us that would cause you to act this way towards me. I'm not being bossy and I'm not commanding you to be my best friend in the entire universe, but if you could please just sit next to me without making me want to cry- that would be flippin' great."
The Swedish sat in his spot for a moment, his eyes locked on the computer keyboard in front of him. And slowly, he scooted back towards me.
"I'll talk to you later." He whispered to me, then Mr. Harrison walked in.
"Good morning!" He started. The class mumbled in return. "I hope you all are having a great day so far, and if you're not then I'm going to be giving you information that will make you smile. The upcoming Harvest Carnival-" His voice was cut off and everyone in the class perked up, making Mr. Harrison chuckle. "The upcoming Harvest Carnival is going to be held on October 31st right here on campus. For the first year, we are once again going to be opening up the campus to outsiders, but they will not be allowed to tour the dorms or the classroom. They will simply be here to party with us."
My eyes lit up and I looked around the room. Everyone else was attentive as well, and Bethany took my hand and gently squeezed it. She was excited too.
Mr. Harrison continued on, "Working booths are optional. If you'd like to participate in working a booth, please see the administrative office or Tyler Oakley. He's not only the one who made the announcement, but we've given him the honor to work on this project outside of school hours."
I leaned over to Bethany and whispered, "Congrats, Tyler." She giggled and jumped in her seat with joy.
A boy in the class raised his hand. "What type of booths are we working?"
"That's up to you. You get to create your own game booth, and if you win the game, you get candy! And if you fail, you get candy for trying."
I heard Felix chuckle next to me.
"Alright," Mr. Harrison started once more. "let's get to class."
I whipped out my Hard Drive and plugged it into the computer in front of me. I proceeded to tell Bethany, Felix and Marzia that our video was finished being edited, but I didn't add any special effects so they could do something to edit it as well. It was 'Editing' class after all.
Bethany added music, Felix added a few Swedish subtitles (just for fun) and Marzia added in a few special effects such as photoshopped disco balls and explosions. And before the class had even ended, we had finished editing our film. Mr. Harrison gave us a warning that our video should be completely done by tomorrow, so our team was set and ready to go.
As our team sat in silence, adoring our finished product, I rose from my seat and approached Mr. Harrison. "What do I need to do to get a booth in the Harvest Carnival?"
