Today is a very exciting day. Today is the day that the Earth Expedition team is decided. I've waited years for this and I really hope I get in. Tami and Suna applied too but I can't imagine what would happen if only one of us got in. STOP THINKING LIKE THAT. I have a feeling today's going to be great. See ya~

I put my diary in my backpack and went into the bathroom. I stared in the mirror for a good three minutes, 'you got this'. Then, there was a knock on the door "hurry up Nisi! I need to get ready too" my stupid brother yelled while banging on the door.
"I've only been in the bathroom for 3 minutes, Jeez". I got ready and went back to my room to put on my uniform. The uniforms are different for each level of school. I wear the purple uniform because I'm still in high school. My brother Suna, however, wears black because He's in college. I head down the stairs and out the door to the bus stop. I know I should eat breakfast but I'm just so nervous I don't think I could keep it down. Upon reaching the bus stop I see Tami my dest friend standing there fiddling with the strap of her bag, everyone is on edge today, as they should be. "Tami! Hey", I call out.
"Hey Nisi, are you ready for today"
"As ready as I'll ever be, I mean what's the worse that could happen", She chuckled and looked away. I could tell she was really nervous, her mother was always on top of her to do her best in school and her medical career so that she could make the team. A couple of minutes later Suna joined us and the bus came.
As soon as we arrived at school we were separated by grades. The sixteens entered the schools' large auditorium first and sat towards the front. Then filed in the seventeens up to twenty. You'd think the mission coordinators would consider age more but last time there was a team with seven sixteens and only two eighteens, they didn't even choose a nineteen. I was deep in thought and didn't notice that they had started. "Welcome everyone" A woman with dark shoulder-length hair spoke into the mic. "I'm Dana Martins the head mission coordinator for this expedition, I can tell you are all very excited so I won't waste any more of your time". She went on and on about how this was an important mission and that those who were chosen were the best of the best. I wasn't listening because I could feel my stomach doing flips. "Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for the announcement of the team"
My stomach was in a knot, my palms were sweaty and if I wasn't sitting, I'm sure my knees would have given out by now. " First up, the Mission leader, Sable Grant", at that a raven-haired twenty went up to the stage. If he didn't have his uniform on, you'd guess he was an adult by his broad shoulders sharp look, and even sharper jawline. " Up next, the pilot Skylar Sage". A sixteen with short blonde hair strutted up to the stage with a smug look on her face. "The science and research specialist, Aqua Tempest". This time a seventeen walked up to the stage. She looked timid her hands slightly trembling and her brown ponytail swishing at the back of her head.
Something is off though, usually, the order is mission leader, pilot, engineer, scientist, medical specialist, earth specialist, and agricultural specialist, but she skipped engineer. The crowd was buzzing and people gave questioning looks to one another. The woman continued like it was nothing "Medical specialist, Tamika Sukki" I looked over at Tami and gave her a huge smile and a thumbs up. I'm so excited for her, but my mind can't help but wander back to why the woman skipped engineer. After Tami joined the group on the stage she continued "Earth specialist, Toby Tenner Jr." A tall curly-headed ginger bounded up to the stage, his hair bouncing with each step he took, and joined the group. "Agricultural specialist, Suna Satore". "MY BROTHER?!". Now I'm extremely nervous Tami and Suna made it onto the team and they haven't announced the engineer for some reason. "Now, you must all be wondering why I skipped engineer. That's because this year is the first time we've ever had an engineer from the sixteens". The knot in my stomach tightened some more if that was even possible at this point. " I'm proud to announce this expeditions engineer as Nisi Satore!". Time froze for a moment as I processed what I just heard.
Me, Nisi Satore chosen for the EE (Earth Exploration) team, I shakily got up flashing a weary look at Tami who just smiled back. I made my way up the stairs and to my spot on stage between the pilot and the scientist. Yes, I know their names but I technically haven't met them yet so it feels kinda weird calling them their names. "I present to you this year's Earth Expedition team". The crowd erupted into applause and cheers, I managed to spot my mother who was practically sobbing and did a small wave towards her. The group started to walk off the stage and into the little room in the back. I sat on the loveseat with Tami and Suna because they were the only people I knew. Then the woman from the stage entered "If you weren't paying attention, I'm Dana Martins head mission coordinator you can call me Dana. First off, congrats on making the team to all of you. I know you worked really hard for it. So, your training will start in four days and will last six months. For those six months, you'll be living together in a mockup of the spacecraft to not only get used to the living conditions but also get used to each other after all, you are a team." And just like that, she was gone again.
We were all now in the room and you could cut the tension with a knife. The raven-haired boy spoke up first " I'm Sable Grant but I guess you might already know that and yes, I am actually twenty" There was a stifled laugh from the pilot " since you're so funny why don't you go next", Sable spat at the pilot already annoyed. "Fine, I'm Skylar Sage and I guess I'll be your pilot or whatever", she shrugged it off. 'Sheesh, cocky much' was all I could think. "Since we've already started why don't we just continue in status order" Sable suggested. 'Oh shoot that means I'm up next' I stood from where I sat on the couch "I'm Nisi Satore and I'll be the engineer on the team". The brunette stood next "I'm Aqua Tempest, I'll be the scientist or head researcher or whatever" After her, was Tami " I'm Tamika Sukki but you can call me Tami if you'd like. I'll be your boo-boo specialist", She giggled. I saw Sable smirk out of the corner of my eye, the ginger stood "I'm Toby Tenner but I'm a junior so just call me Tj, I'm a specialist in earth studies" He fiddled with his fingers nervously. Suna stood " I'm Suna Satore, yes that nerd over there is my sister and I'm a plant geek or whatever". 'Jeez could you be any more casual' just then my mom burst in, "Both my babies made it, and you too Tami", she rushed towards us with tears in her eyes. ' please, please, please, make it stop' The other parents came in a congratulated us as well then, we went our separate ways.

Thoughts? This is my first time ever publishing something that I've written so I'm kinda nervous (even though probably no one will read it). I honestly have no idea where I'm going with this so I guess I'll just figure it out along the way.
