The Skatepark, My New Best Friend And A Surprise

Start from the beginning

"I like that one. Lets go." He says, getting into the car. I get in and start the car, and then drive towards the beach. It's not a long drive, since we live in a beach house, so after about 5 minutes I park next to the boardwalk, and we grab our boards and start walking. We don't skate yet because there's a lot of people around. We just look around at the stores, and the beach, and everything else. After a while we get back in the car and drive around until we find a skate park. Then we climb out and hang out there for a while. Ryan instantly gets mobbed by girls, and all of a sudden, I have 4 guys around me.

"Hey sweetheart. You new around here?" One of them, the biggest one, asks. His friends laugh like he said something hilarious.

"C'mon baby, hang out with us. We'll show you around." Another one invites. I shake my head, and he frowns and looks at the big guy.

"It's not a good idea to say no sweetie. So say yes." He growls, pathetically I might add. I roll my eyes.

"Well, I've never had the best ideas, so you'll have to excuse my stupidity, but NO." I retort, swinging my board around like I'm going to hit them. 3 of them dodge and fall backwards, and the big one just winces. I roll my eyes and drop my board to the ground and jump on it. Then I drop into the bowl and skate to the other side. I try and jump onto the top of the bowl, but I don't make it. I start to fall and throw my hand out to try and find something to grab on to. I feel a hand grab mine and help me up. I stand and look up, then laugh at who I see.

"And just why are you laughing at your savior?" Cobus asks. I smile at him.

"Because I didn't think I'd get help, let alone that it would be you. Thank you, you are now my new best friend." I say, and he laughs.

"Glad I could help. Now, if I'm your new best friend, we should talk, shouldn't we?" He asks. I nod, and he grabs my hand and leads me over to a little alcove underneath the curve of one of the ramps. It's big enough to fit 6 or 7 people in it, but it's well hidden. I wouldn't have noticed it if Cobus hadn't shown me. We crawl in, and put our boards next to us.

"Alright, now what do we talk about?" He asks. I laugh.

"Easy. Music, duhh." I answer. He smiles and nods.

"Favorite band?" I ask.

"Slipknot. Yours?" He asks.

"Avenged Sevenfold." I answer right away. He grins.

"You have good taste." He compliments. I smile.

"And so do you. But, that's probably because we have the same taste." I reply. He nods

"True. Okay, least favorite band?" He asks.

"Uhmm. Does it have to be a band?" I ask. He shakes his head.

"Lil Wayne." I mutter, frowning. He nods.

"Same. Uhmm. Play any instruments?" He asks.

"Yeah. I play the violin, the piano, the flute, the clarinet and the chello. And I wish I could play the guitar or the drums. What about you?" I ask him.

"Uhh, I can play the bass and the guitar, and a little bit of the drums, though not too well. Why don't you get a guitar or a drum set?" He asks the next question.

"My dad and step mom don't want me to. They think that learning to play either of those will 'corrupt me and make me like the kids that are going nowhere'." I answer, sighing.

"Well, that's stupid. Tell you what, I have a couple of guitars, I can teach you if you want. Since you're my new best friend." He offers, smiling. I grin and tackle him in a hug.
