After me and Matt went to the mall we walk around town since he didn’t know the town well.
The bad thing about this is I didn’t either and that’s’ how we got in the current situation of being lost.
“Are you sure you don’t recognise anywhere?” Matt asks
“I’m sure, we could just ring someone”
“Phones out of battery”
“Oh. I’m sure someone will let us borrow a phone or something”
“Okay come on.”
We walked into a shop with a girl at the register who looked familiar but I just shook it off.
“Excuse me do you have a phone we could use, we’re kinda lost?” Matt asks the girl as I stand there awkwardly.
“Well we do have a work phone I’m sure you could use.”
“Thanks, come on Cassie”
“Wait is your name Cassie Mills?” I looked at her confused and nod.
“Oh my gosh, you probably don’t know me but I’m Molly Gilinsky” as soon as she said her last name my eyes widen
Matt gives me a confused look.
“W-well it’s nice meeting you but we really need to use the phone”
“Of course come with me”
As she leads us to the phone I keep seeing her give me knowing smirks making me confused.
I begin to feel self-conscious about how she knows who I am.
She’s obviously related to Jack in some way.
“Jack talks about you, if you’re wondering how I know who you are” she says.
I stay silent not knowing how to respond.
“In a good way, I’m his sister by the way if you were wondering” she adds.
“I feel sorry for you” Matt jokes
“Haha yeah I know what you mean but Jacks not a bad kid, yeah he does and says stupid things but he doesn’t mean it most of the time”
She hands us the phone as I ring my Rachel.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Um I’m kina lost and I was wondering if you could pick me up”
“And how’d you get lost may I ask?” she asks worried
“I’ll tell you when I get home, um could you take my friend home as well?”
“Sure dear just tell me where you are” she says.
I ask Molly for the address before hanging up.
“Um I can take you home Matt, I don’t want your parents to know you skipped the first day because of me”
“Thanks but you shouldn’t worry about it” he says with a smile
“I’m not taking no for an answer”
He rolls his eyes before thanking Molly and following me out of the shop.
“This should be a good introduction for meeting your Mum for the first time”
“Don’t worry, she’s not my mum”
He looks at me confused
“She’s our Nanny.”
Once again another confused expression.
“My dad owns a business so he needs a nanny to take care of us”
“Oh, Okay” he says with a soft smile as he sees that it’s a touchy subject
Before I can say anything we get interrupted by the sound of a car horn.
I smile in amusement as Matt follows me to the car.
“Hello Cassie and who may this be” Rachel asks with a friendly smile.
“I’m Matt, I just moved here” he says
“Well it’s nice to meet you”
We both hope into the back seat of the car and drive off.
The car ride was silent besides me and Matt talking every once and a while
After we drop Matt off Rachel gives me an amused look.
“What?” I ask
“So I got a call telling me you didn’t go to school for half the day and I’m guessing you spent it with him”
“Please tell me Dad doesn’t know”
“Luckily for you he decided to take out for the day”
“Of course he did” I mumble under my breath
“You know your father still love you even though he doesn’t show it he still care”
“Bullshit he cares, Dad and Josh haven’t cared about me since that night”
After that rest of the ride home was quiet.
All I could think about was how I wished Mum was here.
