(AN- the written 'o/jou-chan' appears a bit from here on out, and as this is gender neutral, ojou is the female variant and jou is the male variant - it translates to 'someones else daughter/son', its a suffix I quite enjoy him using)

As your story reached its dramatic conclusion and the revealing of the small scar on the back of your elbow from the ordeal, Xiangling arrived with the platefuls of her newest creation.

It smelled amazing. Despite the fact you knew some of the ingredients that were inside of it, the fragrant and delicious smell was enough to push that fact to the back of your mind.

The tables had been filled for the foods debut that was hungrily eaten by the guests, including yourself, who was glad to have a good hearty meal after your day delivering and fending off fatui from merchants and flowers.

As the plates around you emptied of food and the glasses emptied of their various liquids, you felt Venti suddenly slump against you. You looked over seeing that he was quietly giggling to himself and trying to speak something out that sounded like gratitute but his words were so slurred you were unsure if he was speaking a known language.

You sighed, gently pushing the bard from your shoulder so his head now rested on the table next to his empty plate, some food staining his cheek from his meal.

"A wonderful meal, as ususal, Miss Xiangling" Zhongli complimented as Xiangling appeared to clear up the plates. She beamed with happiness that her meals had been enjoyed, briefling mentioning the price, with you being excluded from paying as you earned your meal.

Zhongli made a small hum as though unsure of something. Childe chuckled "not enough funds, sensei?" Zhongli appeared to shrug.

You reached for your mora pouch, starting to open it as you spoke "I was planning on buying myself a good dinner tonight, allow me to cover for you" you suggested, planning to pay for the bard at the same time. And, with the amount of mora you currently had, you figured you could pay for Childe too.

As you were about to tip the contents of the pounch onto the table a gloved hand wrapped itself over yours, you looked up seeing Childe stopping you from emptying your pouch, his free hand pulling out his own mora pouch that he tossed out in front of you "please, allow me"

You opened your mouth to protest but his grip on your hand didnt loosen. With a sigh, you conceeded, and pulled your hand, and pouch, away, Childe moving his hand too.

"I pay for Zhongli all the time" he chuckled before adding "consider this me saving you the trouble doing the same, a gift, if you will"

"A gift?" you questioned, since your meal cost him nothing on the account of Xianglings friendship that allowed you the free meal.

"To our new friendship" he grinned, his eyes holding your gaze for a few moments before he stood from the table "if youll excuse me, I must attend to something before the day ends. See you"

"Have a nice evening, Childe" Zhongli called out as he wandered away.

Venti let out a few hiccups, alerting you to his presence beside you. He appeared a lot more sober than he had a few minutes ago as his eyes immediently found the back of Childe, following him until he was out of sight. He turned to Zhongli who was quietly sipping the rest of his tea "how do you know him?"

"Hm? Childe? oh, hes what you could call an associate of mine" Zhongli shrugged.

Venti hummed in though, glancing back to where he had last seen Childe before he looked to you, a serious look in his eyes as he spoke "you should stay away from him"
