imma just let this one play out cuz idk how to explain lol

There he was. Staring at her. She hid her eyes behind her old sweater sleeve and tipped her head down. He didn't look away as she expected him to. His oversized flannel hung past his knees as he sat down across the room from her. The bell rang. "Alright so, I know you don't want to be here. I know you all hate school. It's easy to see, so let's not make the rest of the year harder than it needs to be," Mr. Anderson slurred. He sounded as if he had a hangover. A bad one. "I'm gonna call roll now... Alright, let's see..." His voice was groggy. Tired. "Avidan, Brooks, Butler, Calvin..." Quiet "here"s could be heard throughout the room as the names were being called out alphabetically. "Fischbach, Hansen, Howell..." People were staring all around the room as more and more names were being read off the list. "Kjellberg, Lester, McKinley..." No response. No "here". "Jack...? Jack McKinley?" Still quiet.

"Oh, sorry. Here!!" It was the boy. The starer. She looked up. There he was. Still staring with his brilliantly blue eyes. It was as if he couldn't keep them off of her. Only for split seconds would he turn away to face the teacher to glance at his laptop.

"Nelson, Porter, Todd..." She raised her hand. "Lacey Todd?" Another student, Dan pointed in her direction. Mr. Anderson saw her and marked her as present. She noticed the boy, who she now knew as Jack. He was still staring, yet now he was smiling. Lacey smiled back, and the boy's smile grew to stretch across his face into a huge grin. Lacey hid her smile behind her giant sweater sleeve and looked back down to the tablet on her desk. Mr. Anderson talked in the background of her own thoughts. She scrolled through clothing sites and the North Douglas High School bell schedule. She was the "new girl" and she hated it. She didn't like all the unnecessary attention and the constant patronization.

The bell rang again. People flew past Lacey, running for the door like they'd just been let out of a concentration camp. Only one other person stood in the room with her: Jack.

"Hi there." A smile grew on his face. His fluffy brown hair was gelled up and his blue eyes were locked on Lacey's. Her straight, blonde locks flew in her face as she smiled. "Do I know you from somewhere?" Lacey shook her head, looking up from the ground to meet Jack's eyes every few seconds. They both walked out of the room together, Jack accidentally running into Mr. Anderson who was coming back from the teacher lounge with a cup of coffee. "You don't talk much, do you?" Jack asked Lacey, trying to get some kind of response from her. He ran up in front of her, stopping her in her tracks. "You okay?" he asked with a genuine look of concern on his face. Lacey looked up and nodded, and he retreated back to her side. "What do you have next period?" They began walking again. Lacey pulled her schedule up on her phone and showed it to Jack. "Hey, I have chem too... we can walk there together if you want." Lacey nodded and they both ascended the large staircase and made their way through the glass walled hallways into the science wing. You'd've thought that by 2020 more people would be online schooling...

"Hey," a familiar voice called from behind Lacey as she quietly walked down the hall towards the main counseling office. She turned to meet Jack's eyes and smiled lightly at his enthusiastic tone. "Where are you headed?" He wasn't necessarily tall, definitely shorter than six feet, but to Lacey, he was a giant. She kept walking and casually motioned toward the counseling office. Jack picked up on her motions and scuffled his feet, one after the other, trying to keep up with her. "Why are you going in there?"

"I," she cut herself off. She hated talking to people.

"You..." Jack was trying to get some kind of response out of her. He decided to leave it alone and follow her to the office. When they got there, Lacey handed the woman behind the glass framed counter a chip. The woman smiled, and Lacey quickly turned around and rushed out. Jack had a puzzled look on his face, wondering what that was about. "What was that?" he finally asked after they'd left the building. Lacey flipped around to meet Jack's intense stare.

"I'm new here, I had to turn in my documentation and stuff." She gave him a little half-smile. The tips of Jack's lips stretched to reach the sides of his jaws, and every one of his perfect teeth could be seen in a smile that big. Lacey's voice was the one thing he'd been waiting for all day. This girl was so mysterious and he wanted to know so much more about her. Not only that, but she was beautiful.

"Oh," he mumbled. "Cool." She smiled, for real this time, almost giggling at his big, dumb smile. "Hey, if you don't mind... um..." Jack started. "Do you think I could get your number?"

Lacey's smile grew out of embarrassment. She tipped her head down and pulled out her ancient phone. She transmitted the files to Jack's phone. They both heard the "ding" of confirmation, smiled, and went off their separate ways.

There was something about that girl. Jack was going to figure out what it was.

Jackaboy: Okay, you just seem really familiar

Lacey: yeah.. Idk

It was 2:38 and Lacey was on her way to the coffee shop around the corner from school. The sun was just hot enough to make you sweat simply by walking. No matter how far technology could have come, nothing could prevent the impending heat of Oregon afternoons.

Jakcaboy: I'm here

Lacey: okay :)

Sure enough, Jack was sitting inside on his phone waiting for Lacey. She walked up the stairs, opened the door, and walked over to Jack to sit down next to him. "So," he started. "What's up?"

"Well, I'm here so..."

"Oh, yeah... right." He paused for a second. "Do you want anything? I'll pay."

"Oh, you don't have to do that. I can pay."

"No, no," Jack got up from his seat, wallet in hand, "now what do you want?"

"Double-tall white chocolate mocha?"

"You got it," he answered as he started making his way to the counter. Lacey smiled at how gentlemanly Jack was. He came back in less than a minute with her drink.

so that's all to this one that i can find but in my head i have quite a bit of plot still laid out.

and yes, jack's character is loosely based on sean mcloughlin, or jacksepticeye. i was 15 and absolutely obsessed with him.

but as for the story itself, i vaguely remember plotting an EMP or something, or some mythological war breaking out and jack and lacey end up hunger games-ing some shit and hiding out in a beach house and watching their friends die on the beach or something i don't remember. but yeah, that's the opening scene for it i guess. i feel like i wrote more of it than that but i guess not lol
