BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

Dan was awoken by the blaring noise of his alarm clock, signalling to him it was time to get ready for school. Dan rolled over in bed, smacking the top of the alarm forcing it to shut itself off. His legs pulled themselves around to the other side of his bed, his arms pushing the rest of his body to a sitting position. New dawn, new day, Dan thought. He then stood up and began getting ready for school, checking his phone before leaving his room.

The door opened on to a spiral staircase leading down to the rest of the suite, dim lights letting Dan see as began to descend the stairs. On the main level of the suite was his father's room, a bathroom, and a back door to the crocket yard. Dan opened the door at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the rest of the large house and walked through the foyer to the kitchen. Dan stopped, putting his bag on the floor next to the counter, listening out for his dad. Silence. He's at work, Dan said to himself. He then made a breakfast, put it into a plastic bag, threw it into his rucksack, and opened the huge front door, locking it behind him.

Dan began walking down the road to the bus stop, waiting for his bus to come. He sat on the bench next to the stop and pulled out his phone, opening his messages. Happy Mother's Day!, three different people sent him celebratory messages. Dan sighed, locking his phone and shoving it back into his tight pant pocket. The bus came after five minutes, and the whole ride to the school, Dan sat at the back of the bus in silence.

---

The school was overpopulated with people, passing by at light speed, talking and yelling over one another as Dan walked down the wide corridor. After about thirty seconds of just walking around aimlessly, Dan managed to find the library, where he walked in and set his bag down next to a sofa chair. He pulled his phone again, checking to make sure his dad hadn't texted him, and then put it back in his pocket. Then he sat there, waiting for something, anything interesting to actually happen. The cushion beneath him sank into the bones of the chair as Dan made himself comfortable, trying to regain lost hours of sleep.

All of a sudden, Dan's snooze was interrupted by a loud bell blaring through the corridors, and a tall, black haired boy powering through the library, heading straight for Dan. "Hi there, sorry, my bag is behind this chair. Do you mind moving over a tiny bit?" Their eyes met for only a moment, Dan getting lost in the ocean of blue that was the boy's eyes. As soon as Dan flickered back to the real world, he abruptly scooched over to let him take his things. He stormed out of the library and through the corridor as Dan lost him in the sea of people. Dan stood up, knowing it was time to go, and picked up his own bag, following the blue eyed boy out of the library.

---

"I'm Phil," the black haired boy explained to Dan. His eyes sparkled in the sun shining into the room through the window. Dan learned that he and Phil had multiple classes together, English, Maths, and Science. Dan liked Phil. His mind wandered as Phil started talking about the school and scheduling and all that jazz. Dan thought about Phil and his blazing blue eyes, his hair that swooped just perfectly to the side, the way he talked so elegantly. Stop that, Dan thought.
